Deadlifts after Squatting

Basically on an SS plan, read thru some of the wiki and elsewhere. On the days I Squat and DL, I squat first with 2 warm up sets and then 3 working sets.

My question is, after that is done and I deadlift... am I primed to go right into work sets? I know deadlifts key on the back more... but don't squats other than hammering your legs work every muscle under the bar?

This was a question last night, whether or not we had to do 2 warm up sets before our one heavy DL.

Who does what?
 
I do a few sets of warm up squats (not work sets) before deadlifting, and then go through a deadlift warmup as well.
 
1. Before starting a workout, you should do a general warm-up for your whole body. Dynamic stretches and some light cardio or bodyweight exercises are a great way to do this. This heats up your muscles, joints and connective tissues, preparing them for exercise.
2. Before each new exercise, you should do a brief warm-up just for that exercise. The goal here is to prime the movement in your mind. A quick set with the bare bar and a few sets with lighter weight, focusing on form, is important for optimal performance when you get to your work sets. The couple minutes you save by skipping these is not worth the injury potential (due to crappy form) you get from jumping straight into work sets. This is especially true for exercises where you use tons of weight, such as the deadlift.

I already definitely do number 1 without fail. I also squat stretch after warming up(dynamic). I had not been doing warm up sets on DL. I guess in between adding the second plate I will just do a quick warm up of 135. (working is 195)
 
I was jumping from squats right into working sets on DL following Stronglifts 5x5. I'm just barely over 135 on DLs so a warmup would have been annoying without using the 45s.

I guess from now on I'll warm up with 135 as my next workout will be at 155lbs on DL.
 
I just started SS and I usually do 4-5 warmup sets of each exercise

usually

2x5xBar
1x5x25% Work weight
1x3x50% Work weight
1x2x75% Work weight

3x5x Working weight

for most lifts that is 3 bar sets since the bar is usually gonna be bigger than 25% of your work sets

so for DL warmup assuming 200 lbs

2x5x45
1x5x50
1x3x100
1x2x150
1x5x200 - Work set

According to what I've read is recommended to warmup on each exercise

the last exercise you probably only need to do less warm up sets 2 or 3 but I find warming up with the bar usually helps to make sure you get the form down correctly
