I'd take out your cd-rom drive and ship the rest of the computer back to Best Buy with a note that says, "Please reghost this hard drive... NO KAZAA PLEASE"

They introduce nano bots into your water. You drink it and it enters into your brain. Once you have accessed illigal copyright files the nano bots sends out a signal to the RIAA to send lawsuit papers to your house.

Actually yes, they spy on your whole computer. Whenever you log onto Kazaa they can search to see if you have any mp3's. If you have very many on your hard drive i would get rid of them as soon as possible. It is possible they already have your name, just have to wait and see.

You might be Ok, but I would still be kinda nervous. I heard that on some campus they were busting a guy for having only 7 files! :Q
Best I can say is wait a while and see what happens. Back up your mp3's to CD-R's if you want, but get them off of your hard drive. It is just too much of a risk right now.

I would, seeing how that's how they find you in the first place. If you have anything like Direct Connect you may want to get rid of it, too. If all you have on your computer is a few songs, chances are you will be ok. Do you really want to risk a several thousand dollar lawsuit though, they have been handing out hundreds of subpoenas in the past few days.

edit: Ever since this started a few days ago I have backed up all of my mp3's to cd's and just played them off of that. This is the only "safe" way to go, so if you want to be careful I suggest you do the same.

Yup, back up those divx's as well. Basically anything you do not have a copyright to can land you in trouble. I would uninstall any sort of p2p that you have on your computer since this is how they catch you. Also, if you are using warez I suggest that you do not access the internet with those programs (I'm not sure if they can catch you this way though, so don't quote me on it).

uninstall kazaa, format the hdd, drag your computer out to your back yard, pour some bbq starter on it and set it on fire. Then put pair of boxers on your head and run around the bonfire with your arms above your head screaming like a schoolgirl. This is the only effective way to exercise the RIAA...

that or you can get the latest kazaa lite that doesnt let other people browse your shares...

No. It's not the spyware that gets you, it's the program itself. Running any p2p program is risky, no matter what anyone tells you. Like I said above, the only safe way is to get rid of them all. I run all of my mp3's off of CD-R's that I burnt, never leave them on your hard drive. Since all of this started it has just become way too risky.
