What a waste of time. A day to download, 30 minutes to install then all it is, is the SoS (same ole stuff).

Go whack on critters heads, level repeat.

Artwork is beautiful but actual graphics are so last year. Water is only so so. Trees are a bunch of intersecting planes with leaves painted on them. Overal, big disappointement.

OTOH I was pleasanlty surprised by the guildwar open beta. Never heard of the game (developed by renegades who made stuff like diablo) but has some nice features like... NO MONTHLY FEE.

Monthly fees and no single player are a big turnoff for me. I'll stick with Neverwinter Nights until the new Dragon Age game or Oblivion comes out. These graphics that WoW has, is too cartoony for me.

Actually they are just supplying accounts to people who already have keys... so if you didn't register and get a key at the start you are still SOL....

I don't know how long you have played, but the game really only picks up after level 10. If you play it long enough, you'll realize the game is not just "Go whack on critters..." The game is one of the funnest I have played and definately ranks as a winner on my games list. It is intuitive, yet has so many deep facets to it that it would take months to just get a solid grasp of the game. The economy of this game is also fascinating as well, because it actually works (for now that is). The fact that the game continues the warcraft story line also pleases me, and the graphics are highly acceptable for a mmorpg.

On guildwars, I played that too, and I have to agree it was a very nice experience for an incomplete beta.
That there are no monthly fees definately attracts me. However, since the game was incomplete at the time I played, I can't really say for sure if it was better or not than WoW.

With that, I can say right now that WoW is a sure bet. Yes there is a monthly fee, but this is the first mmorpg that has actually gotten me to start thinking that I want to pay to play. My 2 cents.

 Cheers to that. The mission system is INCREDIBLE compared to SWG. Come Nov. 23rd, the $15 charge on my credit card will start saying Blizzard instead of SOE.

I'm level 7 so of course I'm an expert.

Just kidding.

How is the mission system/game play better after 10. How are quests different than the go here speak to him kill that quest/missions of every other MMORPG?

Thanks!

Up until level 10 or so, you're pretty much doing "training" quests. It's to teach you the ropes. When you leave your respective "n00b" area (which is different for every race), you'll realize how big the game is.

it's Big in the sense that it takes you 15 min. to run from Westfalls to eastvale lodging just to copmlete a quest to get 2s 10c :p

edit: but seriously, this game is huge, there are tons of places to explore and the quests become much more detailed and fun. Not just your typical "talk to him to get a crappy sword, or kill 10 beasts" (although there might still be those...dunno for sure)

I played the last 2 beta weekends of GW. Guildwars is not an MMORPG so I really don't think it is comparable to WoW. It is just 3D Diablo2 with a 3D chat/trading program, which is why there is no monthly fee. I thought it was pretty good, nice graphics, but it seemed to me pretty limited (not much difference between the lvl 1 and the lvl 20 game experience).

ohh sorry, was playing again didn't check the forum for a while.
uhm i dunno, do you want me to list all the ways in which wow is not a kill this mish-mash bring me yay head piece of staff for 2000 exp points type deal? well i don't know, because there's so much to list. just play a bit more and you'll see. i know its a weak explanation, but why bother putting it into words when you can just see for yourself- this way i can stop typing and go back to playing.

my reaction is similar as well. but then again, the game was seriously unfinished when we played. i hope to see it grow to bigger proportions, otherwise i may just stick with wow.

And now the Wow site is closed for me to try to download the client again fromthem.

I am screwed or should I give fileplanet another try tonight?

I had the same problem when trying to uncompress it with winrar and an old version of winzip. Downloaded ZIP Reader and it worked fine.
