no kidding, as long as it's not on your hand (doorstep is not going to work), it can be cancelled even recalled by any means necessary by dell.

pity those ebay fools who end up with buyers but no products.
remember dimension 4600!!!

True. I'm not really expecting anyone to even complain about lawsuits for this one. I mean the product is Karma. Come on. How Ironic does it get?

On the other hand, I'm intrested to see if iwearnosox gets his by ordering a week late..

Anyone stupid enough to put a listing up on ebay on such a longshot order deserves to lose money. I seriously doubt that anyone experienced in re-selling would have listings up on this. Lastly, use punctuation.

people tried it with those 1.40 hiking boots too. i did a search and there were listings like an hour or so after the deal came out.

I used a couple commas and a period.

Well, those people are very dumb.

In that case, I guess I'll correct myself. Use punctuation correctly. ;)

I guess they're conditioning us with blatant misprices so that we become numb to the idea that any respectable business would consider honoring these deals.

In a B & M store you'd get the price thats posted most the time, why should an online store be any different? Carelessness is not "machine error" that they claim when they say they cant sell them for that price

Oh please, the virtual world is dramatically different, and you're and idiot to think otherwise. When's the last time you saw a price mistake at a B&M and were able to get 25,000 of your friends and their friends to show up within an hour to take advantage of it?

You're a tool.

Agree and errors are definitely more common in digital world as the price tags are indirect, ie the employee only sees an item number and some name.
See how a price mistake happens from an actual user log from dell.com (notice the extra y y):

Please enter the price for
213123431423431 Rio Kxxxxxxx
> $70

Are you sure?[y/n]

Please confirm again[y/n]

pssh fine, youre right about the masses of people taking advantage of them is vastly different but theres got to be some sort of accountability other than "If we screw something up its not our fault. If you call about it our customer service will yell at you because we screwed it up and then cancel your order."

And the attacks on my character are totally unnecessary..
I could say I think you're the tool for having nearly 7500 posts on some website forums, and for you to get out and see the world, but I dont... wait, I just did, oops

I've used that strategy twice.

It worked the first time.

The second time I tried it, the item actually got ripped out of my cart. So Dell may be onto this strategy now.

Good luck! :)

I'm efficient with my time and have been here for years, it's not much of an accomplishment. I'd assuredly attack your character if you had one..

I noticed your middle name is crook, coincidence? I think not.

Actually Crooks is my last name, now you stoop to the level of making fun of one's name??? I would have hoped you could do better than that. By the way, who in the hell are you to attack me?? I didnt ask for or warrant any crap from you oh masterful oldbie who eats little pieces of noob crap like myself for breakfast. Anyway, no bother, I have an english paper due in two hours so I can't mess around with you anymore.

The 4600 fiasco was a day or two after the deal happened. If they let this go and ship them out, I'm gonna sh!t a brick. This is the same scenario as the 4600 fiasco.

1) number of posts doesn't mean crap - it doesn't show whether you're an "oldie"/veteran/grampa/alien or a noob. All it shows is that you've posted X amount.

2) statements made on the boards, if linkable to a real person, do more to show your character than anything (I personally know of one "professor", and I use that term extremely loosely in this context as the guy is an embarassment to higher education) that wound up getting censured for his statements in USENET years ago)

Look at #2, look at my posts/status, and make your own judgement.....

3) and who the heck really cares anyways? These forums are a pretty efficient way for people with (sometimes) a single common interest (saving money) to get information.

And as for flamewars, I haven't seen a really good one since the heyday of talk.origins or talk.abortions..... when the internet was limited in scope, and the full active USENET community numbered in the mere thousands, and you even knew the majority of the members of a forum personally, even if they were cross-country or even on other continents. Nothing like truly personal vendettas....:D

Edit: Crap, two following posts split across pages:

BTW, in regards to the actual thread - if Dell cancels, no big deal. If they ship - awesome. If I get a consolation coupon or offer, still great. In any case, I've really risked nothing.
Anyways, I've rambled on enough about the "good old days". Need ->
