Hey there,

Tried to price match a rebate from Compusa over at BB and they said NO.
I just went back to compusa to get my drive. BB would only match the instant rebate.
This was on the WD 80GB SE HDD for $69.99.
Go fig

$139.99 Western Digital 120GB
$49.99 Micro Advantage 52x CD-RW
$20 Hi-Val CD-r spindle 100
-$30 Omax 120GB drive rebate
-$50 WD 120GB rebate
-$40 CD-RW rebate
-$20 Hi-Val 100 Pack CD-R Rebate
-$50 coupon
----------
$19.98 + tax on $159.98

Couple Questions, I am confused if the WD Drive is the 8MB or the 2MB?? and has anyone bought this Micro Advantage CD-RW before?? It is a rebadge of what??

How will they handle a re-buy with the 50 coupon? This is the problem I'm running into by buying it now and trying to get the price readjusted.

I *think* you need to buy at list price, and add the coupon upon the rebuy. I've had problems PM'ing if I had used a coupon before because they claimed that the coupon price made their price as low as the PM.

So the general concencus is to hold on to the $50 Off coupon until I rebuy Sunday.

What makes you think the Officemax store will let you use a on-line only coupon in the store? Have you done that before at that store? And isn't that coupon $50 off $250 not $50 off $200?

Good question. So can you buy online, and then call in the price match and add the coupon on Sunday? Guide us, Guru MysticMan1. You have never led us astray on the path of the shining hot deal.

I assume this starts at midnight eastern time, and I live in the central time zone at the moment, so does that mean I can order at 11:00 P.M. central?

Huh! 😕 Say what? 😕

Here the info on using coupons in Officemax store :

#1: Some store managers will accept Staples or Office Depot "in store coupons" and some will take print outs of Officemax's on-line coupons page or, a print outs of a online order showing the discount coupon, but it is not a Officemax store policy to accept these types of coupons, it's total up to "each store manager" to accept or reject these types of coupons.
You can stop by or call your local Officemax store and ask the manager if he accepts any of these types of coupons.

#2:YES you can buy items before the start of the sale and return with your receipt during the week of the sale and ask for a price reduction under their 14 day low price guarantee. When you return with your receipt, Officemax will remove the amount you were changed on your card and rechange your card with the new lower price as if you were buying it for the first time and the rebate should also print out at the end of the transaction.

Everyone feel free to copy and paste this reply to the next 100 times this question will be asked. :gift: 😉

In the description it only shows a 1 year warranty which would indicate that this is a 2MB version🙁

I think the 8mb cache come in 1 year warranty packs as well. This is a great deal no matter which version it is.

Nope SE comes with 3 years

I just bought an 8MB version last year(aug 2002) that only has 1yr warranty,(ends aug 2003 of course) so they DO EXIST 😉

edit: thanks again oh mystical one

I've been just reading this for a while and just now got a user name....

Anyways, I'm wanting in on this, and i think i get everything, but when is the site going to be updated so we can buy the thing and get all the rebates? is it Midnight or Afternoon on Sunday?

midnight and when you get your confirmation for the order, give them a call to adjust the price. usually it took a while for the online price to get update. by the time it get updated, there aren't any left 🙁. anyway, to be on the safe side, you should try midnight at your time zone.

Cold update: seems they took if off their site. WHILE I was placing an oder, it dissapeared out of my cart. Very confusing, and when I try to recover it it says 'there has been an error'...

Are rebates based on the name on the sales receipt or shipping address?

If I pay with my credit card and have the rebate shipped to a friends address, can I apply for the rebate using his address though I had paid for the items.

thanks

Anyone experiencing problems finding the hard drive on the website? Can someone PM me a link please?

You're joking, right?

Just read the original post.

Try to click on a link yourself. I think Office Max countered this hot deal.

From the original post:

Link to Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive Not currently on the web site

More likely, OM has hidden it to keep it in stock and prevent abuse of the deal?

Officemax removed the Western Digital 120GB Hard Drive from their web site so people like you couldn't buy up all the Hard Drives before the sale even started. They will place it back on line some time Sunday.

BTY: 4 week ago when they had this same Hard Drives on sale and they had plenty in stock, they didn't run out of the drives until Tuesday.

this would be soooo hot if its the 8mb version

So long as you add the right item to your cart (# 20346127) you'll get the 8mb. Even if you only get the 2mb cache, this is still a badazz deal. A friggin' 120gb WD 7200 rpm for $30-$40? Even if you get it in-store without the coupon this bad boy is still HOT HOT HOT at only $60 (+tax). *gives thumbs up*

You're assumption is wrong, if you make a purchase before midnight in any time zone you will be a day early.
