Just ordered one in Texas (8MB) - for anyone who's being asked for the coupon code by the phone rep go check the thread over at Phat Wallet, they're in there.

Can someone help me with the $30 off part? I hear there is a phone coupon code, I also hear you can use a Staples coupon in store? Could anyone shed some light on this for me, maybe PM me something. ;) Thanks you.

Its as simple as that. If you don't care about the 2mb or 8mb version. The 8mb version is faster and has 3 yr warranty. The OM webpage does say its for both drives. I think if you get the 2mb one you can bring it into OM and tell them you ordered teh 8mb one. Just make sure you bring in the right serial # which is WD1200JBRTL is the 8mb one.

the 8meg version is faster IN SOME LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES.

The 8 meg version of the drive will not save a microsoft word document any faster than the 2 meg version.
I just checked SR and the 1000BB-SE is a lot faster than the 1000B in many benches.

I really enjoy living in the bay area, except when these deals come around, too many ATers to battle with :(

(OOS no backorder, no B&M coupon acceptance)

hello I went to officemax today and they were out after 10 mins.. I went to best buy and they had the 120 8mb special edition for 159 with an 80dollar rebate... talked to customer service and they could only cover the 20 instant rebate therefore I got the drive for the same price as officemax but with only 1 mail in rebate...best buy southcenter in Seattle.. they started to question the 2mb and the 8mb asked a supervisor and he said just do it....

I'm somewhat angry...I called for an hour straight and couldn't get on the waiting linie in either #1 or #2

I went to CC to force a Pricematch at Office Max at 139.99 AR (Circuit city had it 179.99-100MIR=79.99) and then get the 100 off and they wouldn't let me.

Then they wouldn't pricematch down to 59.99 with Office Max's price

and then they completely ignored office max and said that since they are not competing with them (The lclosest one is 40 miles away) they won't honor it

And then I tried to force a pricematch down to 159.99 (bestbuy) and get the 100MIR to put it at 59.99 and they refused again.

What I want to know...do they have the right, or according to their PriceMatch policy MUST they? Because the guy I talked to was the most vague persion ,"uh...we just can't" "nope, sorry" and he thought I was some idiot since I was accompanying my friend's dad since his dad asked, "what do you think is better, maxtor or WD" and the guy goes "I like Seagate" and then I point out "What do you mean? The barracuda is silent but slower than either SE" and then he is all "nope, 10,000 RPM" (and at this point i'm like a 10k rpm IDE?) and I reply with with a "heat issue" and he goes "I'd rather have my hd fry then it run slower" and then I say ,"that is a moot point because you might as well get SCSCI" and then the idiot goes "that is what i'm talking about [again..comparison between prolyl some 18gig scsci and a 120gig IDE.... [rolls_eyes]" and I counter with the price and it goes on a while and I win ;) But nevertheless I thought I was cheated since they have to...

or am I wrong? So who is right - do they not have to PM it or MUST they PM it? I'd love to know and thanks

Took the almost 2-hour drive to the nearest Office Max. Came home w/ my drive. They had 2 or so in stock. I didn't get the extra $30 off for $150, but I don't really mind. I have my drive and it was super-cheap. I'm happy. :) Also got 100-ct Imation CDRs and Belkin keyboard free after rebate.

Different offer dates, different drives. Use the same name and address. Limit of 1 is for the same product/offer date, name, address. So you can only buy one WD 120GB drive under your name and address for this weeks sale.

I have no luck on getting a 2nd MIR of the same offer date/same product. I usually buy 2 HDs when they get MIR. I used the same name, but different email and home address. 2nd rebate always get rejected.

Same issue here. I called the phone number listed at the very bottom of the form at the beginning of the week and spoke with someone in reference to this. You may use the same address. You are eligible for all the offers (A through D) if you purchase during the respective "purchase by" periods - all that they asked was that you submit a separate form for each offer. The wording should more correctly read "Offer is limited to one rebate check per customer/name/address per offer".

Do hope this helps.

went into the officeMax B&M and the CSR told me that none of the los angeles area officemax's were participating in this deal. I think she was bs-ing me. anyone else try this around Orange county / Los angeles?

Got my WD 120 GB drive in Ann Arbor. I got there about 5 min before the store opened, and while there were about 6-7 people waiting for the store to open, there was only one other person who wanted the hard drive. We both got 'em, and I didn't want to deal with the embarassment of telling them coupon code after coupon code, so I just paid $148 after tax and I'll send in both rebates.

$0.50/gigabyte is good enough in my book.

Well, I finally got in on a hot deal!
Got the code for $30 off $150, took the printout of the OM website the code took me to & printed it out. I also printed out the page of the ad.
Spoke w/the manager & told him the website didn't have these listed & couldn't get thru on the phone (which was true on both counts) & asked if he'd honor it. After some poking around on the store computer, he agreed to honor it. I had to get something to put me over $150 so I got a MX700...hehehe.
It was on sale for $69.99 & I know it wasn't a good deal, but i've been wanting one & needed an excuse. Besides, my cc is giving me 1.9% till October, so what the hey. Oh, by the way, it's a WD1200JBRTL w/the 3 yr warranty...says so right on the package!!
I'm happy & that's what counts!!

Got 2 Special Editions today. Some stores still have them in stock. Interestingly, one had not sold a single SE because they were telling people the SE was not eligable for the rebates. I guess they based that on the picture in the ad, but we all know the ad listed both item numbers and the rebate forms both say ANY WD 120BG drive. I had to listen to some guy warning me over and over that the rebates wouldn't work before he would sell me one. I got one at another store and they knew the rebates were good so YMMV. Interesting. I didn't use an OM coupon. I snagged a printable Staples $30 off $150 coupon at that chubbypurse place. All the OMs in my area accept Staples or OD coupons no quesions asked.
