Does anyone know why in my Order Conf. email, it leaves out my Customer Number.

Example:

Customer Number: <blank>
Order Number: xxxxxxxx
Something else: <blank>

My order has been pushed back from April 29th delivery date to May 5 delivery date.

It is still in "In Production" with nothing else highlighted.

Does it matter that I used a credit card that's not under my name? I used my Dad's CC to pay for this laptop b/c it's for him. I put all his info in the billing and everything. Would that somehow cause dell to get confused b/c it's his CC but under my account name?

Someone help me out here please!

Well, Dell redeemed themselves a little but, there service department is still lacking. After my order was delayed, i emailed them. At my request they upgraded my shipment to Next Day Air and they threw in 90$ of $90.01.

So, if you get delayed, email for a hotter deal.

Wow the 700m DOES ship with 5400 RPM drives! I paid the $20 or $30 to upgrade to the 40 GB drive and I got a Toshiba 40 GB 5400 RPM drive with 16 MB of cache! :Q😀

those of you that re-formatted your 6000, are you able to get the scroll bars on the touch pad to work? what software is needed to make it work? also, what is needed to make the on screen display show up for volume and brightness?

Awesome, thanks! Zaku, you just need to download the Dell "Quickset" from their site. Type in your service tag and click on "downloads" or whatever and you should be able to find it in there. Good luck!

My 60GB HD is also weirdly partitioned, with a 55MB FAT partition and a 3.52GB FAT32 partition in addition to the main 52GB partition. Is it safe to delete any of those?

Yeah, it's got the recovery BS in there. Make sure you burn a Windows CD using the Dell prorgram, then blow that crap away & do a clean install.

Where are you guys seeing these other partitions? My 40 GB drive only has 33 GB usable in Windows so I'm thinking I have a hidden partition too. Did you just load up FDISK and look?

Its dell hidden partion for system recovery I think.

I just reformatted my i9300 when it came and loaded WinXP Pro on the sucker 😛

when i was installing xp pro, all the partitions showed up. it should also show up if you go to the 'computer administrator' button in control panel.

I have a question for you guys... I ordered both the 9300 and 6000 on this coupon because I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I thought I was going to keep the 9300 so I overclocked the processor to 2.13 Ghz using the 1.6 processor in my old 8600. My question is, if I decide not to keep the 9300 and sell it on ebay, do you think the value will be greater or lower because it's been overclocked to 2.13 versus the 1.6 stock speed, considering it runs perfectly stable at 2.13 but that the overclocking process may have voided the 1 year warranty? Thanks

sorry to be a little bit off topic, but i need some help

i got the inspiron 6000 with x300 128mb and 256mb RAM(thanks to this thread), and formatted it. Installed XP pro SP2. However, i noticed a significant drop on my 3dmark score (before format - 2495; after format - 1019). What gives? Please help. I have google search to no avail. Thanks all.🙁

Make sure you install the latest chipset drivers for the board (agp, ide, etc) as I'm almost positive this is why your scores are lower. When I formatted my desktop, this was the case as well and as soon as I updated the chipset, scores were back to normal.

Where do you find the latest drivers?
