All three cases require low CPU fans (~78mm clearance???) [like the Zalman horizontal flowers] and lack any clearance over the card slots -- so no tall GPU cards or ones w/ heat-pipes running over the top. None of these cases have especially quiet fans, and I think all the fans have PSU connectors, not M/B ones.

While I like the cases looks, by the time I've finished I've replaced so many parts [quieter fans, better PSU] and drilled so many additional air holes that I'm not a HUGE fan of the cases. But I still may buy this!

I just about croaked when I first attempted to put in my eVGA 8800GTS card in. I was actually sliding the MB tray in on top of the tracks and it wouldn't clear. When I finally figured out what I was doing wrong it fit in but there's less then 1/4" of clearance from the top of the card to the bottom of the case's cage. The other tight fit is my X-Fi card pretty much is ontop of the cooling fan for the GPU, the only savior is the GPU is longer so it doesn't totally have its fan blocked by the sound card. That said I don't have any heat issues thanks to the 80mm fan up front and the 120mm out back.

I would highly recommend a modular PSU as it's hard (but not impossible) to tidy up the excess cables when you have a full size PSU & full size opticals.

Also with a video card like mine I had to use SATA cables with right angles on both sides as I could not use the first 2 SATA ports due to the GPU landing right over the top of them. The right angle on the other end aids in drive to PSU clearance.

You almost had me there for a moment...there's silver trim on the otherwise black bezel 🙁. Well, thanks anyways.

The front face plate should come off pretty easily, if it's the same as the QPack, so one could conceivably just spray paint the whole thing black. I actually had my eye on the NZXT Rogue for my next build. Five 120mm fan mounts , so no more ghetto-modding fans onto the sides of my QPack 😛.

(No, Amberclad, not for you, alas!) 'Never heard of this Rogue until now, but the case looks GREAT at the link... save the red fans which seemed a bit like a streetwalker's attire. Then I noticed the dimensions: the Rogue has almost twice the X-Qpack2's volume -- and WEIGHT (20lbs w/o PSU). [Maybe a coupla lbs of that weight are in the Carry Bag?] Good grief... Looks solid enough you could drive nails with the case.

A glance at the back panel indicates where the dimension-creep shows up: space around everything -- must have great air circulation.

Basically, the Rogue is a 6'6", 190lb girl-friend -- lovely but rather intimidating! The internal features are nice, from the mentioned fans to the cantilevered drive support (=no cross-braces to block things) and clearance over the card slots. Very nice, but... not remotely SFF or light and taking up a whole lotta desk space. At ~$170+taxes, I'd be looking for a heck of a Sale on the Rogue.

is it just me, or is this case a big POS? the aluminum is too pliable. the smallest amount of pressure will warp it. overall the case is poorly constructed.

i got this $20 AR at fry's some time back, and i still think i overpaid.

It's just you. 😛

Many folks have commented on its lightweight metal, and on how it becomes pretty sturdy once assembled. I don't hesitate to put items on top of it, nor has it deformed after I've carried it around many times to friends' houses. That's all I ask of it, and it's held up well.

Given your aversion to lightweight aluminum cases, I'm surprised you would have purchased it if you read its reviews or looked at NewEgg owner comments. Good luck!

For those looking for a nice HTPC case, the Antec NSK2480 may be something to consider. It's one of the few mATX cases out there that come with a quality PSU, (Earthwatts 380, as a matter of fact), and from what I've read it has some decent vibration dampening on the HDDs, and the included Tri-Cool fans can be manually turned down. Quality case + quality PSU + quality fans for $80 seems like one of the better deals out there at the moment.

The case isn't anything new, but this SPCR review of the NSK2400 covers the high points pretty well. The 2480 adds the 80+ certification on the PSU, and is selling for around $100 everywhere else I look. Unfortunately it does not come in black.

Looks like it's back in stock. Placed an order for one for a total of $45 including ground shipping. Thanks, AmberClad!

ARGH, I really, really hate TigerDirect. Did anyone else have UPS shipping problems or was it just me?

I ordered this case for a client build and they shipped it but UPS could not figure out how to deliver it to me even though it reached my city. I can only assume that TD had incorrect information on the shipping label or the label was damaged and UPS could not figure out the street address. So I contacted TD and told them what happened and asked we need to do to resolve this problem so that I can receive my ordered item. Well, all they did was give me a refund on my CC. They didn't even offer to reship. I didn't feel like fooling with it anymore so I just waited for my credit. They gave me a credit on my CC but it was only for the $29.97 and not the whole order amount which was $43.55 with the shipping. It was obvious that they did not refund the shipping. Now I will have to battle them for my $13.58 shipping charge since it was not my fault UPS couldn't/wouldn't deliver it.

01/04/2008 5:18 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY

01/04/2008 11:54 A.M. A CORRECT COMPANY OR RECEIVER NAME IS NEEDED FOR DELIVERY. UPS IS ATTEMPTING TO OBTAIN THIS INFORMATION

01/04/2008 8:07 P.M. THE RECEIVER DID NOT WANT THE ORDER AND REFUSED THIS DELIVERY / RETURNED TO SHIPPER

Wow that sucks, get something in writing from UPS that they had the wrong address and fax it to TD. Keep calling till you get the right manager to fix it for you.

I had this happen with a different company that sells through Amazon. In my case, the item didn't contain the right parts. They decided to refund me after asking me to send back the item, but only refunded the cost of the item. Anyways, just call up CS and politely let them know of the problem.

So, just to clarify, these DO have a removable mobo tray?

And do these take standard-size ATX PSUs? What about the size of the DVD drive, do you need the short-length DVD drive (Lite-On, LG)?

Edit: In for five. 🙂

Edit: Regarding CPU heatsinks, will the stock Intel heatsink interfere in any way?

I plan on using this PSU: link

- Yes they have a removable mobo tray.
- Yes they can take regular ATX PSUs (don't even think about an Enermax Galaxy though...). Basically, be reasonable here.
- You might need a shorter DVD drive like a Lite-On, depending on the PSU being used. The length of the case should be stated somewhere here.

You do realize this deal is long dead though 😛?

Corsair HX series works very well in these since they are a little shorter than most antecs and such and being modular they clean up well as well as was previously posted. I used a pioneer dvd burner that I had lying around and it was a little shorter than the Lite On I was going to use and both left a lot of extra room inside to work with. Some people even cut some of the xbrace near the HSF to give some bigger coolers some room.

I dunno, they showed in-stock at TD, and I just ordered five. Hope they won't be cancelled.

Hmm. Tracking my order shows them to be backordered. 🙁

Hey, one of those is mine. I want it back. 🙂

My TD saga continues on this deal. I sent them an email asking if they could reship and told them about the refund shortage. They explained why they could not reship which I can understand but they did not address my refund issue. Had to reply back asking them to let me know if they are not going to refund the shipping so I can file a dispute with my credit card company.

I refreshed the page in my browser, and it disappeared, replaced with a listing of "home theater PC cases" on TD. I guess they removed the item, rather than indicate OOS? Sounds like I won't get mine after all.

Edit: A search for "ultra microfly" shows that the black case for $40 is still listed as in-stock.

Does anyone know the Ultra product code (ULTxxxxx) for the silver Microfly case with window, w/o PSU? I need that code.

Edit: nevermind, I found it. ULT33118

I got a black one about a year ago and love it. Fits a regular PSU and opted to get the 500w Ultra from a separate deal instead of the 400w one offered (albeit it would have been nice to have short cables). The only down side is the CPU cooler clearance has to be 76mm or shorter, so mostly stock OEM stuff. Oh, and don't use the handle on the front, it is plastic and the case is too heavy.
