I agree with you BillyAZ1983 that this game had good cinamatic detail.

Not sure why all the people thought DS1's controls were horrible. I turned off vsync and the controls were fine after that, aiming and movement handled so well I could snipe limbs from a mile away and still circle strafe hulks. Issac certainly didn't handle like a ninja but you don't expect him to act like one.

How's the scare factor in DS2 compared to DS1? I remember the first 10 minutes DS1 were terrifying...

This game really didn't hold anything back. The only part of the game when I thought it was monotonous was when I went back to the old space ship - and seriously, how many times to we have to fix that damn things gravity drive? And using terms that won't spoil it, the final chapter also seemed like I was constantly running in circles until I got to the final stage.

But as you said, Dead Space 2 is a huge improvement over its predecessor. A lot less repetitive and the story elements are more fluid. I also like how everything is happening in real-time instead of past events. Tremendous job creating suspense, tension, and horror using real-time events.

And I don't want to spoil too much but
The medical operation you have to perform near the end is so bloody grotesk when you screw up it was actually funny

Alright, that video about what happened previously in Dead Space 1 left some questions..

It's made very clear that this marker is manmade, so how is it producing these necromorphs?

Also, how is it able to inject into someones thoughts?

If you haven't, watch the new movie - Dead Space: Aftermath. It takes place after DS1 right up to DS2. It explains some of the stuff they are talking about in DS2.
The marker thing confuses me too..because I could have swore SOMEWHERE in previous game/movie it talked about a second black marker on earth or something?

Well the marker controls people, not directly but pushes them in the right direction into doing things that the marker wants them to do but dont really make sense, such as what happened originally with the black marker, reverse engineering and building a new marker from the original black one when they dont even understand the purpose of the original or how it works dosent really add up. The marker when rebuilt likely directed the scientists to do things that would create the necromorph infection. It says in one of the audio files that "the equations almost seem as if they want to be solved" or something similar.

Also when the red marker from aegis VII was destroyed all the necromorphs were turned into goo, so when they built the new marker on the sprawl from issacs brain it may have reanimated the goo or at least caused the infection to spread from it to others maybe that's just a guess of mine.

How it gets into peoples thoughts i have no idea, its not really been explained or ive missed the explanation, might be something to do with a dead space signal that it emits, i heard that somewhere.

I couldn't wait any longer, so I installed the game lastnight and started playing.
Damn this game is scary...the whole atmosphere is too creepy. I actually turned the game down to Casual (easiest setting) as those necs were freaking me out.

I think the game would've been better if they had used zombies in the space station...just my personal taste :)

is it worth the $60?
what kind of answer are you expecting? some people will say yes and some people will say no. its a great game but personally I think the pc version has no business being 60 bucks. if the pc version is 60 bucks then then the console versions should be 70 bucks since they have to pay Sony and Microsoft a fee. not to mention console versions got Ignition with pre orders, have achievements, and will have DLC. oh and PS3 versions also got Extraction. heck even the Elite suits are not available on pc but will supposedly get added later. to me the least featured and supported version of the game with no licensing fees should not cost the same 60 bucks as console version.

It's hard for me to tell people they should shell out another 10 dollars. Though in recent trends, 50 dollar games usually come out sub-average quality , and if takes another 10 dollars to persuade these publishers to start making good games then so-be-it. I still think right now it is a matter of opinion, but the way our currency and trade is going, eventually games will go up in price.

I am really pissed that they had the nerve to announce "console only" single player dlc on the day of release.

It's less tense atmosphere scary than the first one and more "BOO SURPRISE" scary.

Well, I had pre-ordered the game and then I decided to cancel it due to the tepid reviews it received. Also, I figure that since it's a SP-centered game, it isn't necessary to get it immediately since the main experience can be had at any time which is not contingent on the number of players online (I don't give a crap about MP in this game).

It looks and sounds good so I will pick it up for sure, although I am going to wait a few months.

On that note, how is the MP in this game? IMO, the MP is just a marketing gimmick and contrived; at least, it looks to be that way.

Lol, tepid reviews???? what are you talking about? it's received nothing but 9.0's out of 10, 9.5's out of 10's, and 10 out 10's?????

Thats amazing critical acclaim, and game of the year ratings??!!!!

its also every bit worth $60.

As it stands, I say wait. It's a good game, but too short to really be worth $60, imho. And waiting for a price drop also means giving them time to patch the bugs with the new game+ bonuses.
