Grabbed it for $24.00 at cdkeyshere since i loved the first one.
$60 is just ridiculous, i would have NEVER purchased it for that.

Played about an hour in and so far its just as good as the original, i'm having a blast!

I'm a little disappointed about the lack of AA, and some color banding.
But the atmosphere, shadows and lighting are terrific.

Is this place legit? I see it says you get the key from them and can still d/l the game from EA? How can they sell it for so much cheaper?

No clue why its so cheap.
I used paypal.
They emailed me my key which was a pic of the key from the game box.
I used that key to download/activate through EA download manager.
Went without a hitch.

Took about 1/2hr for them to email my key after purchase.
I'd imagine it differs if you buy it during off business hours.

And i wasnt sure either, but others were saying their purchases went fine in another forum and they've ordered many other games from there, so i decided to try cuz the price was right.

So i can only vouch for my personal experience and that it went smoothly and i will definitely buy from them again.

I wouldn't connect that to my steam account. They do not screw around with locking accounts etc..

My only concern is it seems like soo much of the game is indoors.. Thoughts?

Assuming it's like the first game... it's probably on a spaceship? So I'd expect most of it to be indoors?

I bought the first one on PC and never touched the game after few mins into the game. The only reason why i didn't play beyond few mins was because of its awkard control system...Is it the same control mechanics as the first one?

lol, I get tired of saying this but did you turn off the in game vsync? that was the main cause of the goofy feeling controls in DS 1. the in game vsync issue that caps you at half refresh rate is still there in DS 2 but the mouse controls are absolutely perfect in this game.

When I read an overview of the plotline I was hoping for some sort of moon mission or something.. I'm not saying it's a bad game, just that I was hoping for something outside the ship.

i wish the vsync myth would stop getting perpuated
the controls were terrible, with vsync fixed.
they were odd, different but not in a good way, the camera was slow and strange
it is among the worst controlling 3rd person games ive ever played

I guess it was just personal preference cuz in Dead Space 1, i just disable v-sync in game and forced v-sync in the Nvidia control panel instead and i thought the controls were fine.
It just took some getting used to the camera view which was behind and slightly to right of Isaac (more to the right than most games since Isaac was so big onscreen) and if you concentrated on the off center view instead of where to point the aiming cursor it seemed odd.
But once i played a bit and "trained" my brain to stop looking at Isaac and look where i was headed, i was fine with it.

Anyway, Dead Space 2 seems to control even better than Dead Space 1.

I'm now on chapter 4 and its been great so far!

I don't know what you did wrong trying to fix it, but the vsync thing was not a myth.

niether was it a magic bullet
the controls are odd[terrible]
they were odd with the vsync fix[still terrible]
there were am-ple 3ps games that came before it that controlled superior
ionno why they insisted on trying to make it more difficult than needed

I still have the first one unopened sitting here on my desk. I'm a sucker for FP/3rd person Sci-fi Horror. But I've gone back and forth with people saying that the controls just ruin the game. Is the first one *that* bad?

No it's not. Works great for me. And is a great experience too. Why did you buy the game and didn't try yourself? Makes no sense D:

It doesn't ruin it for me, but it sure as hell makes me think, "What the hell? Did they even try playing it?" The game seems really polished so the controls are a real outlier.

Oh, and in case this hasn't been posted yet.

Bang!!!

It has to be a personal preference thing, because I never thought anything of the controls. Every game has it's own feel..

so you just leave it sitting there instead of trying it out for yourself???

So far I'm enjoying it. It's scary as shit, and it reminds me of Doom 3 but better game play and map elements. The levels are extremely detailed and easy on the eyes. They must use some hybrid between BioShock engine and Splinter Cell's ( Visceral Engine) ,because those are two games that distinctly reminds me of this game. The colors, lighting, fire, textures, and other particle effects really pop out on your eyes . They also add some fun physic elements with gravity and moving objects that adds some fun game play elements.

I'm at chapter 6 and I'm very impressed how polished the game is so far. Not sure if many games are worth 60 dollars, but this one is close to it.

Yeah its very well done, ive completed it and its definately every bit as good as the first one, slightly better in fact as theyve done the tweaking of old gameplay elements to make them better and built upon the originals success etc.

I just started chapter 8 so I am half way through and so far its been really really good. my only real complaint is the awful color banding in some spots that I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Yup - when it's around $20 I will buy it. Still need to finish Dead Space 1 though. :)
