Seagate has released 7200.12 vesion (500GB/Platter) in Japan yesterday.

Sorry, but the article is in Japanese, so please just take a look at some of the photos.

It is made in China, and is sold at 6K Yen (around $66 USD).

As of now, only 500GB model is available, but I would expect they would release 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0TB sooner or later because 7200.11 series (375GB/Platter) is reaching 1.5TB, and has up to 4 Platters/Drive.

I just wanted to give you guys heads up what's coming soon.

PS Samsung also released 500GB/Platter model recently. I believe it is their Green version, and 5400rpm.

I just got mine back from RMA. It is the latest firmware, and working fine.

It was from the Tiger Direct $104 deal, and was also packed badly. Tiger puts the drive in a plastic clam shell no bigger than the drive. Then follows Neweggs packing style....

Hey, I'm waiting for my RMA to arrive. I too got a drive TD and packing was as bad as Newegg (although, my Samsung from NE was nicely packaged).

Why did you RMA yours? I was getting corrupt files every time I copied large amounts of files (with varying sizes) to the 1.5tb.
