Has ANYONE successfully sent their Dell system via Ground Service. I am trying to see if I can now issue a Ground Call-Tag for my package to be picked up. I wonder if this hassle is worth the 60 bucks I save on shipping.

Well, just got mine today. Now comes the part I'm worried about... the rebates.
Is there a general concensus on whether they should be sent all together or seperately with copies of the packing slip?
I guess I should just call Dell huh?

Just FYI for everyone,

I ordered the 8250 and requested that it be sent via FedEx Ground. Like everyone else, it was sent via another, more expensive, method (2nd Day Air.) I called Dell and spoke with a CSR. It seems that they are aware of this problem. She said that as soon as she hears any information in regards to what Dell is going to do about this problem she would e-mail me.

I will post here as soon as I get word.

.tiff is sometimes used for FAXes

I think he meant why would they send him someone else's invoice. I may be mistaken though.

To answer the above question, human error :) they got over 12,000 orders in under a week. Thats bound to cause some stange things to happen. I would just reply and say you recieved it in error.

I also recently called DELL and complained yet again regarding the shipping fiasco. I was told as well that they are aware of the problem as well. The rep. I talked to (take this with a grain of salt until we actually see some action) said that I need to submit my invoice for shipping from FedEX for the 2nd day air as well as what it would have cost for going via ground (FedEX should be able to provide this info.). Dell would then look the two over and pay the difference. I was shocked that he told me this so until I see a check, I'm going to continue hounding them.

Before my order was even built, I called Fedex and requested a valid 7-digit ground shipping number. I then called the next day and updated number at dell. I just received an e-mail from my Dell CSR saying that my ground number was invalid. Anybody have these problems? I even got scolded for accidentally sending multiple copies of my e-mail. They won't allow me to issue a ground shipping tag inorder for fedex to pickup the package at Dell. Hmm... I'm wondering if I could drive up to Austin and pick up my computer, that would be the fastest shipping method.

FWIW... I sent in my rebates today... I just made copies of the packing slip and sent each of the five different rebates in a different envelope...

So I dunno WTF is going on. My computer shipped out, but get this shipped by UPS. I clearly stated I wanted FedEx. And the site gives me a clear UPS tracking number to which it was sent out 2 day air to boot. The invoice I got from the website did not mention shipping charges (as I wanted FedEx), so I my card hasen't been charged yet so I don't know if they are charging for the shipping or not. Very odd.

Just called Fedex again and my Dell CSR. I have concluded that it will be almost impossible for Dell to ship via the Fedex Ground method. First of all, Ground service does not work like Express service where you can give someone your account number to which to ship and bill to. With Fedex Ground, you must provide the shipper with a shipping label. That will not be possible because Dell has no place where fedex can go and pickup the package with a label YOU specify. Anyways, I feel like my excessive calling and hassling went to waste; its futile guys. For those that are complaining that Dell Shiped 2-day mistaking your intention of ground service, good luck at having you money refunded. Its utterly impossible for Dell to even ship Fedex Ground (from what I think). At this point, I don't know what do to but ship Fedex Express...

Exact same thing happened to me as i mentioned in my earlier post, but mine was shipped via ups ground. I am on hold with dell to determine if i was charged.

Just got off the phone with dell and they confirmed that shipping was free via ups even though i requested fedex. i did not ask why they did it, because as long as its confirmed free, i do not really care. awesome deal.

I think I lucked out. I just got a letter from FedEx saying that my CC was declined. Which I already knew about, because the Dell purchase was a large purchase outside my normal spending area or something like that. I had resolved it the next day but apparently FedEx didn't try again, and Dell having no choice sent it out UPS :) I'll see if they charge me, I don't think they can since I already got a invoice and total.

BTW does anyone know if photocopies of the packing slip are acceptable for rebates?

Do they charge on additional shipping/packing slips?
Are you going to request 5 of the packing slips?
Do we have enough time to send the rebate?

I am pretty sure they said to just send in photocopies because they are so behind from all these orders it would take a long time to process the extra invoices. Anyways, there is NO WAY they are going to decline these rebates. Do you think Dell wants 12,000 angry customers returning their computers? I doubt it. Even if they declined half that would be 6,000 people who are pissed at Dell. They simply wouldnt do it.

They have to atleast honor the 3 they had on the website. The other 2 $100 rebates are kinda in a gray area.

numerous CSRs and managers have confirmed that they will be honoring the rebates. If you qualify for EPP, it will not be a problem.
