Great deal, man!

I just got: Norton Systemworks Pro 2003 + Cyberlink PowerDVD XP 4 for $13.90 shipped.

BTW, they are a 5-star, top service store in Yahoo! shopping.

question: after 1 year, the NAV liveupdate stops working, not the Norton Ghost 2003, right? i need this for ghost, but i didn't know if ghost is a subscription product...

I've always been able to reinstall the software, and the year resets. It's very simple to do. Nothing stops working, regardless; just the virus updates.

Linden, this is from the "how to use" info for Symclean:

"Note: SYMClean 2003 does not remove Norton SystemWorks 2003 or its component products. It is designed to remove only older versions of NSW and its components."

It's mainly designed to erase older versions prior to an update install...

While this sounds like a good geal to get NSW Pro 2003, I was able to get an even better deal - I got mine for free from Staples after instant ($20), mail-in ($40) and upgrade ($30) rebates (well, I did pay about 2 bucks in sales tax).

Many stores offer it for free every now and then, and it may be a good idea to check them occasionly to see if they have any such current deals.

nah, not me, i'd rather pay the $11.00 and not have to wait for MIR. I hate MIR's.

To the guy who was saying it claimed he had 4 months left:
Did you actually reformat your windows partition? Or just reinstall windows? I had a similar problem when I was setting up a computer for my grandma. I accidently set the computer date to a year in the past, so when I changed it to the correct date, it said it was expired. A reinstall of windows didn't fix it. So what I did was a complete reformat and them reinstall, and then it had the proper 12 months of NAV updates. I'm guessing it puts the expiration data into the registry somewhere. Since there are no product keys, there's really no way for symantec to track you, other than relying on the program to track itself in windows registry or somewhere on the hard drive.
Which begs an interesting question: If you install Windows and then NAV with the date set forward 1 year and then correct the date, do you get 2 years of liveupdates?

It says it requires windows XP home/pro?

This will still work with windows ME, right?

If someone can confirm this (i doubt it's an XP-only program, so i'm probably being excessivley paranoid here) then i'm on this...might actually start buying legit software if i keep seeing deals like this 🙂

has someone suckered you into buying warez? damn...

How have peoples experiences been with us depot? Norton has worked and installed a lot better for me than Mcafee.

My experience was great, my product arrived quick. From what I have seen McAfee has some major problems with Win2000. I have had 2 friends who have installed it and both have had problems. It caused the computer to run so slowly that you couldnt even get menus up to shutdown or do anything else.

I never received mine, post office online says they tried to deliver it once and couldnt, would retry, post office clerk says they dont have it, must have been shipped back to US-depot (after one attempt?) and US depot hasn't responded to my emails for a couple of weeks, despite one "what's up?" reminder email in between. I'm not sure what's happening, but i want either a refund or a reship, but they're *not* the best in terms of customer support, at least via email.

Lost my first reply. Anyway, silly of the post office not to just drop it into your mailbox. I would definately call the company, harder for them to ignore a phone call. I dont think anyone else here has had a problem so its probably not intentional. Also, I would check on the delivery confirmation (if I remember correctly they ship priority with deliv conf). online at the post office page, then you will have something to help backup your claim for refund or reship.
Unfortunately a lot of these cheap companies have crap for customer service, you just gotta keep at them.

Yes, they do ship priority with delivery confirmation! I had checked that out with the USPS after ordering, as usual, got the delivery notification the day after I received my disc! (Our tax dollars at work again...)

Lol, I thought that it was something I was putting in wrong. What a waste!!!

I finally fully installed mine last night. Works fine. Got 1 full year of NAV updates. It also found the Personal Firewall I installed previously and integrated it into the System Works "main panel".
