SO ok you think it's OK for them to put a hold on monies on everyone's credit and debit cards.

You dont work for them mchammer187 do you. you think it's ok what they did right??

THEY DID NOT HAVE THE DRIVES TO SELL!!!!! What dont you get about that?? There should of been no charge or authorization.

Temporary authorization can turn into a charge really fast also!!!! You do realize that dont you??

Ahh the hell with it i might as well go talk to a rock

they HAVE to authorize on every transaction so they no the money is there

and most places have a policy that says they will not charge until it has been shipped no real retailer would do so otherwise

if there was no authorization than that is like saying you can pay us when you get the product it's ok with us
rolleye.gif

do you understand that the company has to charge the card after the temporary authorization for them to get the money

or how would they even know you were going to pay them at all

I dont know of any company at all that will not temp you whenever you order something
IT IS AUTOMATIC for every transaction
because if it wasnt it would probably take hours to do something over the web if it wasnt

I agree it should have been listed as OOS but dont act like they owe you a drive or they killed your mother or something
but some people are just greedy

you knew it was a longshot but are SHOCKED when you dont get it

reminds me of people wanting to sue Best Buy over the GFTi4600 price mistake a few months ago

and no i dont work for them i just thing its wrong you are destroying them on reselleratings just because they are not honoring their price mistake

Yes please do. A rock would not see right through you like we can. Since you order way more than mchammer, I assume you've dealt with online vendors who were taking orders on items when they had sold out/not received(ever hear the term.... back-order?). People aren't as stupid as you think, and they can all see your disappointment in not getting an item that sells for $265+ everywhere else being redirected to this "they're holding our monies" mantra. The BB/GF4 fiasco is still fresh in people's minds. Now go talk to a rock.

one more thing, MODS please LOCK this thread. it is obviously a dead deal and it will only lead to the demise of a small business.

what comes around, goes around.

.83 on resellers now. HEHE dropping like a rock!!!

You still dont get that there were never any in stock. I talked to my rock. It understood quicker than you have.

I've dealt with CDW, yes i under stand "out of stock". And you will get yours when CDW gets some in. And CDW did at least have what you wanted. THIS place never had them, and "says" they are not getting them. I guess you just like wasting your time ordering and giving places your credit card number and info.

Hell im waiting on 2 Sony DVD-r dell drives, they shipped finally since the 1st. They've had an hold on my card since then. So dont think the authorization goes away fast always.

Do you understand. NEVER in Stock. Never was?? But i authorized a hold on your money on something they didnt have and didnt know if they were ever going to get it.

I am not complaining about the money authorization, I've dealt with disputing charges probably 10 times in the last 2 years. 3/4 of them from Deals on this forum. Ie. Vikingcomputers, gamestop, the best buy deal i almost got arrested at the store over it, and even the zones 40gig deal.

I always use my American express, anyone's crazy to use a debit, i agree with that.

I grow weary now it's late. Me and my rock are going to sleep now. Im going to FW now to get some intelligent conversation on this matter. And find some deals there, then watch them get copied and pasted here 10 minutes later.

You're an idiot. Have you ever worked for / been involved with a big operation like CDW? Mistakes happen. Go pop your pimples and step away from the keyboard.

No i have worked for myself for the last 12 years, im 34. But when i make a mistake with my work, i have to pay for it. I have a small computer business.

I check and double check everything. So your saying they shouldnt have to. Just defraud the public, then blame it on someone else "maxtor" like the email said.

I have an account with ingram micro, and no where do they have this drive listed or any new maxtor like it. Someone put the info in their computer, and gave a date 10/10/2002 and a price.

When i sell a computer and take a credit card, it goes in my machine, it isnt instant. It clears the next day. So if i make a mistake and sell a computer for $600 when i wanted $800. I should just make up a story and not deliver it to the person. That person has a right to call the BBB in my state and complain. Just like i have a right to reseller ratings.

They know there was a mistake on their price and they are lying to get out of it.

Your all in on it with them. I see it all clearly now. "you cant handle the truth"

This is one of those cons where everyone's in on it. im out of here.

Funny i just got this 30 seconds ago too. After they cancelled my order over 6 hours ago?? Guess i gotta call American Express now. Doesnt look cancelled to me. Notice the 2 am. perfect time to rip me off. I got my order summary and hour after i ordered @ 5pm on the 10th. Sure looks like it keeps going.

we seriously do have some dumbass people on this thread.

1. you are a dumbass if you are thinking about sueing them or revenge them through lowering their resellerrates because they did not honer your deal.

2. you are an idiot if you thought you would/should get the hdd. honestly, when you were ordering, you knew it was a price error.

i hate when people rant their orders got cancelled due to price error. either live with it or don't order at all!!

geez, sometime i get amazed by bunch of greedy people on this board. :disgust:

i hate when people rant their orders got cancelled due to price error. either live with it or don't order at all!!

Computers4sure was selling it for around the same price also

This was not cancelled due to a price error, How many times do i and everyone else have to say this. They cancelled them supposedly because they never had the drive to sell in the first place. Check all the emails.

I hate people that dont know why it was cancelled and probably didnt even order, so they should keep quiet. That makes you=dumbass!!

For some reason they decided to sell something they dont have and no one has. For what?? Names?? credit card info?? what?? I just want an honest answer. I know one of you work for them??

They just decided to lie about it. That is why they are getting trashed on resellers,

.

How could they get them before ingram micro, or any other of the distributors. It is not on ingrams site like i said, i have an account with them.

Just remember viking computers last year. Emails to stall you. then your money's gone.

I truly think of nothing but ignorance for those who thought this will actually go thru, and will do anything to break even when it doesnt go thru at the end. I had great doubt on this too-good-to-be-true deal from the beginning, and anyone with an IQ of 75 or above should know better. Not like this is the first time happening since the creation of internet, and it will not be the last. People who are still ranting deserve all the hassle they've gotten themselves into. Win some lose some, live with it.

*Edit* Mod should lock this thread, the quality of the rants are deteriorating this forum's main purpose.

No, CDW told me that they would not get any more instock

they had 1 Ipod to begin with and it was sold a long time ago

they never will get any more in stock

i am sure hundreds if not thousands of people tried to order this

just like the Sony Monitor Deal

Dell had a hold on my Radeon 8500 for about 3 months before i got mine

do you understand that putting a hold on your cc is automatic that IS WHY THEY SENT YOU A SECOND E-MAIL confirming the order

sure they never should have listed the product but so what

and if that
Computers4sure was selling it for around the same price also

is you justification than why dont you get them to honor that price and them slam them on RR if they don't
rolleye.gif

Everyone is telling the truth in their comments on resellers. That's what it's for. I dont just go by the rating. I've ordered from crap places with low ratings but read the comments.

If everyone feels sorry for them. Go buy something, then post a good rating.

Or you can just go on there and post fake good ratings. But that wouldnt be right.

"Don't trash the retailer just because they made a little mistake"...

WTF? I called them up three times to confirm the pricing. Each time I was assured it was the correct price. Interestingly, the first time I called up @ 2:00 eastern, the sales guy told me they had about 100 people on backorder. The second time I called, the sales woman told me it was less than 60 people on backorder.

This thing smells like a scam, not just an innocent mistake.

seller rating: .07

w00t

Anyone who honestly believed $116 was the correct price for a 160gig 7200 rpm drive is a complete idiot who should be playing with an etch-a-sketch, not a computer.

Give it a rest, whiners.

That's precisely why I called to confirm the price MULTIPLE times.
Anyway, according to your logic there are only two possibilities.

1. The sales people were being honest, which means the company is staffed completely with idiots... so don't ever do business with them...

2. The sales people were being dishonest (and were not idiots... just people looking to malign the general public)... so don't ever do business with them...

well that clears that up.

macdonald has a point. If they make a mistake they must pay a little just like anyone else. In this case they are only paying with a couple bad reseller ratings. These bad ratings will be motivation for them to be more accurate in the future with the info on their site.

Isaac: Why did you call to confirm the price "MULTIPLE TIMES" unless you had reason to believe the price was incorrect? You can't honestly argue now that you thought it was the correct price. If you were just "trusting" the sales people, why did you keep calling back? Why not just "trust" the first one you talked to? Or even the second?

FVCKING IDIOT is all i have to say about you :disgust: if you realize that it wasn't a price mistake on their part but rather the supplier, then grow the fvck up and leave it be. go blame maxtor for giving out false information to the retailers, stop buying maxtor products, it's not the retailers fault. anyhow, seeing as how you're more of an ASS than i am, i hope your business goes down in flames you sorry sack of sh!t 🙂 what comes around, goes around.
