DEAD!! Maxtor 8mb-cache 160gb EIDE ATA-133 7200 RPM $116.99

It's a fact, Jack.

....unless it's a price mistake.

FW has 35 posts and AT has 1 ?????

Now 2 (I do my part)

I ordered one and have received a confirmation.

Wish me luck

BTW, mfg part # is really 6Y160P0; pricematch is for the "L0" version -- 2 MB cache, this one has 8 MB.

Good grief! If I ordered everything I wanted from this board, I'd be broke in a week!

Sadly, I have to limit myself to ordering things I need. 🙁 😉

In any case, this must be a price mistake... CHEAP!

NO ONE CALL. NO ONE OR YOU WILL PERSONALLY BE STRANGLED BY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:|

This is obviously a pricing mistake so all of you keep your f*&king mouths shut 😀

Too late. Some Weenee posted that he had called Zones already. Arg!

At least the CSR did not pull the plug on this one.

Does this likely need a separate IDE controller because of its size -- don't know the limits of current MoBo's (I should know these things, I agree).

goddamn f*$(#U NEWBIES always F$@#&&$@& CALLING CSRS!!!!!

Hey Guys, I talked to Brian, CSR Ext 3398.
He said, All the informations is coorect including the price. They don't item in the stcok, they are talking them as preorder. They are getting some of them this week.
He was not sure how long it will take to ship. He also said that he doesn't have any plan to cancell the orders.
As many u want u can order. No limit.

I was told the same thing by Matt at 3386. However he did say that since it is a preorder the price posted is from the manufacturer (Maxtor) and is not confirmed. I was told they would call or email prior to shipment and billing of my CC if the price changed.

I talked to "Mark" the manager. He confirmed me that the order for this "EIDE" Maxtor was actually a typo on their end. It is really a SCSI drive, from what he told me. I have no idea. He also told me that they were going to update the information tonight, 10:00pm EST. I don't know what he is going to update. I was going to order some, but it seems like i will probably get cancelled on. I don't want to do that . Well, i'm going to keep trying. Ask for "Mark" he's the manager of zones. He'll tell you the deal. He told me he received about 50+ calls on the same subject. I think they're going to change the price, due to the high volume of calls that he is getting for this ridiculously good deal.

Yea, the mobos are limited to 137GB, so you would need an add on card.

Ok.... has anyone bought from this company before??? I just ordered, but I didn't know that they didn't have it in stock. They're not just gonna borrow my money for a month, are they?

I ordered. That said....

Guys, do NOT make plans based on this coming thru. Zones has done this before. Sure, they at least sent you a nice "sorry, but we put one right in the lumber yard" note, but that was it.

I'm as optimistic as anyone, but let's be realistic. It's a 160G 8MB HD for $117. They are gonna catch this, and no one is gonna get one, since they are not in stock anyway.

Just want to make the new folks aware.....

dah......... fine count me in on this deal with you guys.. =D

Havent bought anything like this in a while....

That guy DanLe who said the manager said IDE was a typo and it's really a SCSI drive is most likely wrong. The model number cited on the website is 6y160P0. According to maxtor's spec info, that's a diamondMax Plu Ata/133 8mb buffer drive 7200 RPM.
I don't think Maxtor even sells a SCSI drive with a speed less than 10K RPM and the max SCSI capacity is less than 150MB, so they would have to be listing an entirely different drive if it's not IDE.

nfs4 ...I called anyways...they said the price is correct but that even though they were supposed to get some in today they didn't and don't have an eta of when they would. Like I belive that...looks like they are getting 4-500 more emails and home addresses for there catalog business. "sure go ahead and order, but we won't be getting them..."

like all deals... a small percentage will slip though, just hope your lottery ticket gets picked!
