That does seem a little excessive to care about the release date. You normally don't buy a game if you won't enjoy it... not if you didn't get to enjoy it over a long weekend.

Well why don't the theatres release movies on Monday? Bad for business, they put it out thurs midnight and friday for the weekend crowd. It's also probably the reason they release DVDs on tuesday, so as not to compete.

But there is no reason for Games not to come out on fridays. If I was going to make a game, Spend money for pr, videos on you tube etc, advertising.. I would try and make the hype peak on a friday and if it's a long weekend or just before christmas so much the better.

But there maybe a real reason to not do this, not a marketing expert.

Ya, and there's no reason for them to come out on Fridays either.

Beer stores used to be closed on Sundays.. didn't make sense either.

Whiskey stores are closed on Sunday in Texas, and no beer or wine sold before noon in sunday.

The religious right thinks you should be in church instead of drinking

Sure there is, but it's so obvious. For the fans to play over the weekend instead of waiting to midnight on a work day or in your case a school day.

There is no reason what-so-ever why DI could not be released on friday.

Still trying to figure out if I should buy the game. :hmm:

I'm not really arguing against them releasing it on a different day. I'm just saying that it seems excessive to "boycott" a game simply because you didn't get to play it over an extended weekend.

I could see someone getting mad if they were supposed to release it on Friday and pushed it back for seemingly no reason.

I'm not boycotting either actually, I'm waiting for reviews, I already got burned on Shogun and Deus ex this year by jumping the gun.

Did you not like the new Deus Ex? I haven't heard anything really bad about it. I bought it as well, but haven't had a chance to play it yet.

No, I hated it. I played about 4-5 hours and for the life of me I can't turn it on again and I'm the kind of guy that loves that kind of game. I was hoping for a modern System Shock II like experience but even Splinter Cell it 10x better then Human revolution.

I started a thread about how over rated it was and a lot of people agreed with me but it was locked. Probably on the 2nd or 3rd page back.

deus ex is very good. I have been gaming for a long time and my opinion is more important then yours.

I'm sure you're every bit as bright as Deus Ex's AI. I'm sure of it.

LOL, once I was in a police station I shot a cop and all the other cops started shooting me. There was a bathroom door next to me so I went in there and 4 minutes later everything is back to normal even with a dead cop on the floor. Poke my head out shoot another...

So, after reading some reviews and it be compared like Fallout 3 with zombies on one review and another comparing it to Borderlands I got more interested and watched some more videos. Checked out GreenManGaming and with the 20% off coupon it brought it down to $34 and then I saw I have $4 in trade ins from free games I've gotten from them over the year and said fuck it, $30 and Steam activated, bought it and have it preloaded. I figured at best, it would probably be $25 at the holiday sale and I'd like to play it before then. Still won't touch it till I finish Space Marine though.

Yeah, the $34 + steam activated is what's getting me interesting... same thing that happened to me with Deus Ex. 😛

Nice, Seems like you still get the ripper mod if you bought it from GMG

whattt? it said unavailable for me. I'll check again. Can't figure out how to play online but so far it's pretty cool. Picking through the suitcases feels like a hassle so far, but that first action scene was pretty awesome.

edit: ah i figured out how to play online.

That's one thing that I noticed when watching the play through at IGN. It seemed like there were too many suitcases to go through that you spend an awful lot of time rummaging like a bum rather than playing the game. The person even seemed to skip suitcases after a few minutes. 😛

weekend: people go out and do shit. Hence, theater.

video games: not a "go out and do shit" activity. it's an anti-social event.

this is one of the most flawed comparisons I have read at AT.
