Just so I can get my facts straight...

There's no major difference between Haswell and Ivy Bridge, but this deal is worthwhile because it is competitively priced along with IB.

Is that correct, or am I missing something else?

The Z87 chipset alone makes Haswell a more worthwhile purchase than Ivy Bridge.

This is too good to pass up. Damn you, Termie! :p

I guess it's time to bid farewell to my i7 930/X58.

Wow, this is a really hot deal, better than some of Microcenter's bundles AND no tax or shipping! HOTTTTT

Was planning on doing this in a few months, when I had more time to do setup and testing, but this made me pull the trigger early. Prices will come down some over time, but I doubt this low. Even with CA tax it's not bad.

The 10% off SSD code is nice too, the Seagate 600 drive is in there, and I wanted to try that one out. There are certainly hotter SSD deals, but 10% off isn't too bad.

Nice deal. Microcenter is still a bit cheaper on the combo deal, even with VA sales tax. But when I factor in gas money, it's pretty much a wash. If I were to buy, I'd likely just go Microcenter for the ease of returning if something is DOA.

Newegg: $409.98
Microcenter: $398.98

Trying hard not to pull the trigger, but my i7-930 is still going strong. I'd like to make the jump to a 6-core chip if possible.

Great deal for those without access to Microcenter.

Glad to see Newegg is finally getting competitive with Microcenter, albeit for a short time, even if you have to account for sales tax to get NE's prices cheaper than MC's.

But, I'll still pay a little extra for the ability to return/exchange in a matter of minutes, not days.

This is an awesome deal. Sorry to derail the thread, but which mobo available for the combo deal are you guys jumping on? I've traditionally bought ASUS boards and been happy with them, but would you guys recommend something else? I'm not planning on Crossfire/SLI or anything.

Looks like a really nice deal. I've been looking for something worthwhile to upgrade for a while. However, I have my doubts that a 4770k is actually going to be faster than my current 2600k. My 2600k has been running stable at 4.8Ghz for almost 2 years now. From the reviews I have read, Haswell doesn't like running higher than about 4.4Ghz. Are the architectural and platform improvements enough to make the Haswell setup faster despite the 400Mhz deficit?

The 4770K is about 15% faster than your 2600K. That may not sound like much, but do the math and you'll see that it would only take a 4770K@4.3 to beat your chip. You'll likely get higher than that, but is it worth a full platform upgrade at ~$450? Probably not.

Nice deal for those that don't have a MC near them. There's some deals that are about the same as MC but overall the MC deals offer a lot more variety at better prices. There's some nice promo deals in there also with coupons for RAM, SSDs, and cases that don't require buying the CPU/mobo combo.

The Z87 chipset alone makes Haswell a more worthwhile purchase than Ivy Bridge.

Pretty much this. 6x native SATA 6G is by far the biggest reason to upgrade to Z87, given most everyone who has an Intel platform from the last 3 generations and a GPU from the last year or two is going to be primarily I/O limited. Having the option to go multiple SSDs for RAID 0 for both storage and boot drive is huge, where previous platforms were limited to only 2xSATA 6G ports.

Still, you'll see a huge boost from 1st gen i7 with 4770K, almost 100% over that 930 at stock for both and about 50% improvement clock-for-clock. Just went through the upgrade myself and running comfortably at 4.3GHz, gonna get a better cooler before trying for higher.

that is a very nice deal indeed (4770K and ASUS pro)
6X Intel SATA 6G would be my only reason to upgrade
Overclocking is considerably more complicated w/Z87
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ub6WnHmiIOs

Have seen over at Tweaktown, certain benches with Haswell 4770K @ 4.6Ghz with temps to 95C

And I am still a bit unclear if the current shipping mobo have the C2 chipset without the USB 3 sleep issue, or if thats why these are being discounted now so soon. Anyone here who gets the ASUS board, I would appreciate knowing what CPU-Z says for chipset. If I was assured C2 I would prob jump on this. I dont want to go thru any "conversion" process later.

Any thoughts on the 4 MB you can choose from:
asus z87-pro: alc 1150, 8sata ports, display port
MSI z87-g45: 6 sata ports; alc1150, no display port
gigabyte z87x-ud3: 8 sata ports, alc898, no display port
asrock xtreme6: 10 sata ports, alc 1150, display port.

Man this is tormenting me. I'm still rolling with a stock i5-750. I have to think the 4670 would be a pretty nice upgrade.

Jeeze, this is very tempting! I have been planning on building myself a new computer for gaming and maybe watching some movies (currently I only have a crappy netbook) but thought to push it back a couple of months away to see about price drops and new hw releases. Now I'm unsure of what to do! Thank you for finding this deal though!
