The fact that it's ECC may not be as big a problem for you as the fact that it's registered SDRAM. Some boards don't except registered modules at all. Check your manual it should tell you in there. It's mainly used in the higher end boards, duals, etc. I've got three or four that will take both but it still may not work. I got some now that will work with one, but not the other. They are pretty picky about the modules. Worth a shot for me at this price though.

EDIT: Oops, I see Kwad Guy mentioned this while I was typing.

It's the registered feature that will make this memory worthless to the average person, not the ECC feature.

True. Do you happen to know off-hand if 440BX boards (BX6-2) will tolerate registered? I thought that they would, they do support ECC. The other question is, since these are 512MB, are they "high-density" chips? If *if* your board can support or ignore ECC, and can tolerate or use "registered", if the chipset is too old to support "high-density" SDRAM, then it will only show up as a half-size or quarter-size DIMM, most likely. (Although, at this price, it would even be worth it to run 4 DIMMs at half-size in a 440BX board if possible.)

My friend has a quad-Xeon server monster machine he picked up off of eBay from a dead dot-com, I think it's a Compaq, it has a seperate memory board with 16 DIMM slots on it. I'm going to tell him about this deal, hopefully he can get in on it... 8GB main memory, sweet. :)

Yet another misprice. Since this is on fw too, and the system is not showing OOS, then they must not have a real time inventory. I would bet some lurkers are buying hundreds at a time.

I found out I can't use it in my Abit VH6T by going to Crucial. Look at the left side where it says "Memory Info". It shows all the information about the memory supported. You can use the website to search for your mobo and see if you can actually use this memory. See ya!

I have never owned a Compaq, but do know they are proprietary. Does anyone one think there is a chance this would work with other systems?

BTW this is my first hot deals post (for those who can use it)

I cant seem to find this item from the link, did they yank it??

yep, same , I had ordered 4! Have no fear I ordered on the business credit card, and if they do not stock these why are they on the web site? doesn't say mispriced says, no longer in stock. They better hope they don't suddenly have them back in stock at a higher price. I am gonna send a letter of compliant, see if it does any good

Man, I was wishing this is a hot hot deal. But I guess now it's ... this is so sad that there is no word for it. For those who ordered it, let us know if you got compensate for what happen. Just update us. Someone should start a form with all the bad websight that isn't trust worthy. So we can avoid it.

But lets see if this websight can regain some of the credit that it lost by compensate something for those who already ordered.
