I was looking for Memory when I came across this. It is a stick of 512 MB SDRAM for Compaq Systems.

Here is their Reseller Rating

Product Detail

SMART Modular Technologies is a specialist in memory modules in SIMM, DIMM, SO-DIMM, Rambus RIMM and custom form factors that utilize the latest DRAM, SRAM and Flash memory technologies. Because of this focus and concentration, SMART provides precision response to customer requirements. Design simulation, PCB design, surface mount technology and test are all experiencing rapid technological changes in response to rapid changes to higher density, higher operating frequency, lower voltages and smaller packages in memory ICs. SMART's leading edge technology continues to provide both standard and custom product solutions for its customers. This memory is designed for the following Compaq systems: ProLiant BL e-Class 10e server blade; ProLiant CL380; ProLiant DL320; ProLiant DL360; ProLiant DL380; ProLiant ML330 667/733/866/933/1GHz.; ProLiant ML330 Generation 2; ProLiant ML330e 800/933; ProLiant ML350 600/733; ProLiant ML350 Generation 2; ProLiant ML370 667/733/866; ProLiant ML530 6/800. For a complete compatibility list please refer to the original manufacturer's web site

I have never owned a Compaq, but do know they are proprietary. Does anyone one think there is a chance this would work with other systems?

BTW this is my first hot deals post (for those who can use it)

See if your motherboard will take regisered ECC.
I'm going to take the gamble and say that these will work in my SC500!

ECC ram probably won't work in your motherboards. stop and check b4 you go on a major spending spree. ECC is mostly for servers that will be using a lot of ram.

My motherboard manual says that ECC is not supported but it will work. The ECC function will just not be available.

What the hell, I'm in for 2

Does that apply to all motherboards that don't support ECC ram? Because I'm sure my doesn't support it but I want some cheap ram.

Now from what I understand you can run ECC on pretty much any board, except that you cannot mix non-ECC and ECC.

These are "Registered" modules. They are used ONLY in file servers. You can not use them in regular systems.

I have both an HP Netserver and a ProLiant Server and they both use registered memory. Great Deal if it comes through!

DO NOT BUY FOR HOME SYSTEMS - IT WON'T WORK!

Does anyone know if you can run ECC and non-ECC DIMM's together if you run them both non-ECC?

FYI

If the order has been confirmed and charged to your credit card, PC Connection shall immediately issue a credit in the amount of the incorrect price.

If your board dosen't support ECC it wont run ECC anyway, but I doubt you can mix them.

I jumped for 2 sticks, if they honor it great, if it works it works, if not off to ebay.

THIS LINK works ok without the "&SourceID=k15506" tag. Most likely a price error, and a time waster for the vendor and all the buyers. Blazing hot if you get it.

Good Post!
I was going to order some, but the wife'd just kill me when it came in.
I think one of my older boards (Maybe ASUS a7v133) would take registered memory,
but just wouldn't take advantage of the feature?
I don't think my present board could use it.

oldfoof

I've got a ML330 and took the 256mb ram out of it and tried it in a Dell 500SC...works great.
Tried it in a BX6....(however, the old model..now the bx6-2) and a BH6....no go.

I'm going to guess that the memory they're seling you is similliar to my compaq 256mb chips.....regardless, I can stick 2gb in the compaq for $45 shipped. Sounds HOTT to me!

Lets cross our fingers that it comes!

ECC is not the big issue. A lot of motherboards will accept ECC memory, although many do not implement the ECC feature.

The dealbreaker for most people, though, is the fact that this is also REGISTERED memory. As others have noted, for the most part ONLY server and some higher-end workstation motherboards will work with REGISTERED memory.

It's the registered feature that will make this memory worthless to the average person, not the ECC feature.
