Interesting that as of now there are zero reports of it not working. I would have figured some of the cards had shaders disabled because they weren't functional. Guess not.

I picked up one of these, to bad that the rebate is only good one per household and the cards appear to not come with a mini displayport adapter. Either way, decent deal since the card is still new.

it's amazing that the 6900's haven't even been out for a month and rebate has already started. Very tempted to get one myself with all the success stories re. flashing HD 6950 to 6970; however, further reading on the techpowerup forum also showed that some people experience artifacts or driver crashing after successful flashing, even at stock 6950 clock setting. Perhaps these really are defective cores that couldn't make 6970 100% of the time. There may be free lunch, but not for everyone.

Unlocked both of my Gigabyte cards successfully. No artifacts at all running at 925/1400.
