Do you guys know if these burners can be upgraded to 40x or possibly to 48x?

Only if you're lucky enough to get the LTR-32125W, it can be upgraded via firmware up to a LTR-48125W, with Mt.Rainier support too. 😀

The LTR-32123S, cannot be upgraded. :disgust:

Check this thread..... Overclocking your Lite-On? Which models could be upgraded?

Anyone lucky enough to get those LTR-32125W, what's the manufacturing date and serial#? I've heard about April 2002 or so, please confirm.

Thank you for the answer, this goes to MysticMan1 also. OfficeMax near me, might have one of those. I'm gonna go today and check it out.

thanks! What I really want to see is a DVD-RW for $4.99 =)

Me too. I bet we will in the next few years. 🙂

Could someone tell me if you think the Staples $50 Cendyne rebate will conflict with the $40 OMax Cendyne rebate. Both go to the same place (McAllen TX) but have slightly different numbers on them. Think they will be accepted if both are submitted?

One potential problem with those who have hard @ss Staples B&M managers is the free CD Player shown in the OM ad, According to the B&M manager who did the PM for me, Staples can technically deny your PM because they don't carry that item and it is listed as part of the OM promo. As always with any PM YMMV. Thanks mysticman1
Did you also use a Staples coupon, or didn't you want to push your luck? Also are you aware that the rebate period for the $50 staples coupon does start unlit Sunday 7-28?

I was able to use two $10/$40 Staples coupons since I had two different ones and purchased each drive on a seperate receipt. Our local B&M manager is really cool about PMs and coupons. My net for each drive after the OM 110% PM and coupon was...

$79.99 Staples B&M price - $22.00 (OM ad 110% PM) - $10/$40 coupon + $3.12 (NC sales tax Blah! 🙁) = $51.11 - $50 MIR = $1.11 🙂

As for the Staples $50 MIR, as posted earlier it started on Monday and is valid through 9/30. The rebate printed out with both my drive purchases. Here is the rebate: Cendyne $50 MIR at Staples.com
Thanks again!

GetReal, Would you mind telling me at which Staples store you did PM? the Raleigh one or the Garner one or ....
Thanks a lot!

Guys,

Curious, but what is Mt.Rainer??????

I'll prolly use the 15 off 75 and 50 off = 15 - 1.60 off from EBATES = $13.40 🙂

Don't forget the 2% from Ebates! lol

What is Mt. Rainier????.

or Mt. Rainier.org

Mount Rainier enables native OS support of data storage on CD-RW. This makes the technology far easier to use and allows the replacement of the floppy. This is done by having defect management in the drive, by making the drive 2k addressable, by using background formatting, and by standardizing both command set and physical layout.

Circuit City (Orland Hills, IL) has the OptoRite 32x Model #CW3201. 16-digit serial# ADA15CXXXXXXXXXX. :disgust:

Just curious what model CompUSA sells. Anyone knows?????

Thanks Scorpio... and this may be a dumb question, but I didn't see the answer to it on the Staples description of the product:

Do these burners have Burnproof or Seamless Link or whatever? I haven't been in the loop for awhile... thanks 🙂

Thanks to MysticMan1 for all the updates.

BTW, If I were you I'd go right now to the nearest OMax and buy them. This is a B&M only deal. Chances are high that they will run out of them tomorrow. 10 left in my OMax (Orland Hills, IL) They are already ringing up for $59.99 + tax. $40 Rebate is from 7-21 to 9-14.

Depending on the packaging (as mentioned in this thread) you may get one of these CD-RW drives. You'll have to look at the serial#.

SP33Demon, FYI.

anti-buffer under run technology.

Lite-On - SMART-Burn
Mitsuimi - ExactLink
AOpen - JustLink
Verbatim - JustLink
OptoRite - ExactLink - Manual

WooooHoooo and thanks to everyone! 😀

Staples did a PM...100%....not 110% 🙁....but after rebate.....I get .01 back 😀....not counting taxes! 😀

Great deal and thanks again! 😀

Are the Verbatim drives really Lite-On rebadged ? I just got in on this deal for $48 - $40 MIR and I got the Verbatim drive. I was curious whether this will perform as well as the Lite-On.

The $50 Staples rebate is a Staples only rebate and the OfficeMax rebate is a OfficeMax only rebate, they are not the same, so there shouldn't be a problem buying both and still getting your rebate.

Today I got off from work at 7 pm. The officemax in my area is open untill 8 pm, so I rush home, get the money, and off I go to officemax. Unfortunatelly, I was not able to print out an office depot coupon in time BECAUSE I COULDNT FIND IT!!!!! DAM!!!! Somone please give me the link to it, if you cant post it here, PLEASE email it to jnoxforall@hotmail.com !!!!

Anyway, I get to the officemax at 7:50 pm, I run into the store like crazy and start yelling as lound as I can "Where can I find CD burners!!!!!" (hehe jk, I acted normal)

Since I had about 10 minutes left, I went streight for the computer section. I found one 32/12/40 cendyne left. I look at the back and I saw the serial # which was just like the 12 digits, no letters - Sample (123456789012). It was either a Verbatim or a Lite-on.

Here is the problem how do I find out the model number is. I looked everywhere on the box, it was nowhere to be found. QUESTION, how do I find out what it is!

Here is another problem. The manager told me that today is the last day to get the $40 dollar mail in rebate. IS THIS TRUE???? If it is, then this sucks, because I didnt buy the burner. Yes I walked out empty handed! 🙁

So please someone help me answer the following questions:

Where can I find the Officedepot rebate?
How do I find out the model # since it wasn't on the box?
Was today the last day to get the $40 rebate?
Also, when you over clock the Lite-on, does it overclock everything? Does it run just like the 48/12/48, or 40/12/48. Does it overclock the read spead as well?

Thank you for your time, and help!

Jnox

Looking for the officemax $10 off $50 ? - Search for it at F@twallet.com - I've posted it in a thread there. I won't link to it from here.

Anyone here have the AOpen drive? How is it? Seems the only talk is about the Lite-On drive.

I do - It burns flawlessley! I love it, and they put out frequent bios updates. Excellent drive. I picked it up on the last staples sale.

hmm, does the CD player rebate not print for anyone else? All i get is a bunch of blocks when I try to print it. :disgust:

Which one did you order from, Staples or OfficeMax and what coupon did you use.

can u buy it over the phone if its not listed on the website?

and u get both the cd player and the 40-50 dollar rebate right? (i gotta install acrobat reader🙁 )

hope they accept my staples email coupons, they say in store only😛

Nefrodite

Yes! you can order by phone 800-283-7674. option 1. but they will ask want verify the coupon by fax or a URL address or some other way.

Yes! you get both the $40 rebate and the cd player, but only when buying the drive from OfficeMax, no cd player from Staples.

n/m i ordered it over the phone😛 was easy enough. the coupon codes are annoying though. the cdplayer is mail in offer. i wonder what pos cd player they'll send me😛 hehe no matter, it'll probably be relagated to playing music for the puppy🙂 save wear and tear on stereo hehe🙂

OK so will Staples take the $10 off $40 or more coupon over the phone even though it says on it in store only?

And can I just give the Staples person on the phone the URL to that ad or will they have to call OfficeMax?
