Gateway for some silly reason sends a 10 inch TV outcable, a small microphone, and a little bit of documentation in a separate box. The only possible reason I can think of that they would do this is because not every computer they build has a TV out port on the video card. Is such a cable expensive enough (when bought in bulk) not to just send one with each computer?

Placed my order on 2/28 and called on Saturday to upgrade the keyboard. They cancelled the first order and submitted a new one, and the rep even told me I was eligible for the $200 rebate (I wasn't going to risk asking -- she volunteered it)! Woo-hoo! Free shipping on orders over $99, and they re-applied the $50 coupon code. No CD upgrade, but I don't care about that. I just ordered 512mb from Crucial with 15% off code (not messing around with low-end stuff), and damn... it cost about a third of the after-rebate price of the system! e***ing the 124mb it came with and my old system will help me justify this to my husband!

FYI - yeah, when you cancel your order, it means just that. They start over and submit a new order (versus modifying the old one) -- which means that I now have to wait another week for my 'puter to ship.

Thanks HOT DEALS! I recieved mine this morning at 10:00 (ordered on 2-28 afternoon, in production same day!, shipped next day on 3-1, recieved on 3-4)! I ordered mine with the 40G HD. After MIR, it comes to $476!!!! This is a great system. Very well built, great touch and looks. Great value....I am typing from it right now...Sorry guys, no flat LCD monitors included!! one box was the speakers and another was the rest. I had to download a couple of drivers for the XP. I downloded one for my HP Photosmart 1000, and another for my FREE Visoneer 8100 from Staples (thanks again HOT DEALS bodies)!!!

what company delivered your computer? my tracking says that wpx is the carrier whoever they are. first time i heard of this delivery company

sorry to laugh, but that sucks... how big is the speaker box? it must have been big enough for it to fool u into thinking it was the tower, or was it just dropped off at your door?

man i cant wait to get my computer... ordered it about 9:30PM pacific time (2/28) and as of right now its still in PRODUCTION! ack... anadtechers must have flooded dell with orders...

Anyone else got the display problem with this system? Mine at home show a blue screen and saying the display driver got stuck in an infinite loop. No use to reinstall the driver DL from dell website. And even worse, it can't start the XP system now! It hangs when you move the mouse. Any idea? Maybe that is the hardware problem? Can I install driver from NVIDIA?

I would first check to make sure the card is fully seated, who knows? The nVidia driver would surely work.

Call them up and have them expedite you a new system. That's bs that you should have to deal with it. I've had a problem before and Dell shipped me something within 2 days.

To anyone still waiting for their system to arrive.

I found that the Dell on-line tracking system did not work. Kept saying "On the way to shipper"

I called and they have an automated system to give you your tracking number. The number(s) one for the speakers and a second # for the tower, did not work properly at the UPS site. It seems that the numbers have to be separated into groups for the UPS system to recognize it. This has never happened to me before tracking a UPS delivery. Frustrating.

The Dell on-line system has finally come close to being timely.

By calling UPS I found that it is out for delivery today.

I guess the moral of the story is that you can probably get your tracking numbers sooner if you call Dell and actually speak to a human being with your order number.

Nah, the speaker box is small. I had the system sent to my school address, so it went to the Shipping & Receiving department here. UPS already came and left, and they still haven't dropped off the system!
