Does anyone know if I had gotten the system configured in my shopping cart and didn't checkout until after 12am EST March 1, would I have gotten yesterday's price on the system and free shipping and also be eligible for the $200 instead of $100 mail in rebate? Would the $50 coupon still have been valid since I already had it in the cart too.

Did anyone catch this over at Txxxbargains?

<< Update: You can save $60 by selecting Mouse already included, Monsoon Speakers but don't check the box. Ignore compatibility warnings. >>

I just saw it there this morning. I wish I would've checked over there last night. I would've like to have saved $60 by excluding a mouse that's going to sit in the box anyway. Oh well..

Let me know if anyone was successful in doing this?

Do you think Dell would refund me some money if I called them up and asked them to take off the speakers? I don't really need another pair of POS pc speakers. I don't need their mouse either for that matter.

i'd have to agree with havoc, the computer's not quite worth a jump of 230 bucks for a mere 400 more mhz and rdram instead of ddr.

The deal thats now dead had the biggest bang/buck. but if someone just has to have those things, its not such a bad deal... but i'm also assuming you have to pay shipping, which will add another 95 bucks to the total which makes it nearly 800 bucks...

I'd suggest you wait it out if you want a dimension 8200, cause i bet they'll offer free shipping sometime down the road and possibly a better cd-r upgrade for free.

This heard from FatW, dell will cancel orders without speaker and mouse. So call back to add them back if you can.

And anyone know what speed of DDR SDRAM can be used in this system and where to buy cheap cable of that Geforce2 with TV out? As I know, there is no cable shipped with this system. Need some upgrade to it ordered yesterday.

Whew! glad i didnt opt to take those out... as i saw on the info listed on the dell site the DDR SDRAM used on the 4400 Dimensions is pc2100 @ 266 mhz. I'll check the site again to make sure.

edit: Found a link, click on details to get the specs...

PC2100 and (I would think PC2400,PC2700.etc. should be backwards compatible like ..pc133 is to pc100 etc.) the video out just is regular S-video cable

To be perfectly honest it does not surprise me in the least ken2001. It was a "GREAT" deal & trying to squeeze every dime and nickle out of it by ignoring conflicting setups to eliminate the speakers &/or mouse could prove to be a huge mistake (if Dell is indeed not honoring those who placed orders outside the guidelines).

I like to push the limit as do most here, but I do know my boundries. ;)

speaking of pushing the limits, did any of you who tried to call in to remove nic and modem get a lowered price? i heard someone tried it, but in changing the config the price stays the same, just curious to know if anyone got it to work.

You'll never believe this but I just called the CSR from dell because I heard that the orders without a mouse and speakers wasn't going through. anyways I called up Dell and told them that I needed to check on status of my order and the lady just asked me what kind of mouse do I want? I said a basic one, and she then gave me this new total of $567.84. I was like wtf? my original amount was $497.84!!! how can a mouse cost so much and why did I need to add a mouse? she said o the order didn't go through because the system needed a mouse, so I asked how come this mouse is costing me an extra $70?!?!?! she then put me on hold and came back with the new price of $507.84!!!! and now my order date is updated to march 1st which will entitle me to use the $200 rebate!!! therefore bring down the total price of my new 1.6ghz dell system to $307.84!!!! woohooos!!!!

I did without any problem, and that save me $50 (don't ask how that comes, I was just happy with that amount). But I also did upgrade hd to 40Gig and CDRW to 16x cause that is a burn-proof. My final now is $555 before rebate. Hope that will get my deal through.

wow, that sounds almost too good to be true... and you know what that usually means.... Obviously this would be a MAGMA HOT deal you got, if you do get it for that price, and i hope you do, but if your order date changes to 3/1 wont dell take the liberty to add shipping, and take away your coupon? i dont have any facts, just speculation at this point...

Congrats to Lawreaga only when your rebate finally get through. And looks like you got free shipping too. I don't want to take the risk of ruining my deal, I am just happy with what I paid to a P4 system.

Wow. I think you're in a win-win situation either you'll qualify for the $100 rebate or the new $200 rebate which just started today. If you do get the $200 rebate and your final price remains $307.84 then that's MICHAEL BOLTON HOT!!!.

ROFLMAO

man that's just too funny...

i'm calling to ask about nic/modem removal for this deal, will update after i talk to CSR, got 5 mins wait on line left...

Edit: damn i just got off the phone, CSR wasnt very nice, said i couldnt remove it because this configuration was meant to compete with a competitors model (gateway i assume). Didnt even try to look anything up/ask someone else, maybe the AT effect took place and CSRs have been dealing with this all day...

<< Don't start dissing MB! :D :Q :D >>

At first I thought you meant MB as in motherboard :D

Some of the best lines in Office Space include Michael Bolton references.

I received the order acknowledgement but no confirmation. The customer service rep told me the order is not in the system and to call back tomorrow. He said I may have to reorder. When I told him I could fax a copy of the order acknowlegdement he said he can't do anything until tomorrow. I hate it when a deal hits a snag.
