Yes. This is per Dell's instructions. I think I linked to it somewhere in this thread.

I just received TWO email confirmations on the rebates, these are showing as DIFFERENT offers and BOTH have been received and now show on the rebate site. I mailed ONE form, the rebate center processed as TWO rebate offers (as it should be).

Awsome! :)

Still waiting here.........

Oh, and to the question to disable video in BIOS, I haven't found it. I placed an old PCI card in the system just to toy with it and WinXP came up in Dual Monitor mode. Not having played with Dual Monitor Mode, it took me awhile to figure it out and how to disable it. My memory score (SISoft) went from 1250MB/sec to 1850MB/sec just by using an old PCI video card (after using XP to disable onboard video and free the shared memory). :)

When my friend setup her computer, it was not connected to the internet, so as I do not think activation is necessary, not to mention, we did not have to call Microsoft for the activation code.... so I believe it is a similar concept to a 'corporate' copy of Windows, in that there is an installation serial number, but no activation.

Dell versions of any operating system will not work on non-Dell systems, or atleast the bootup and install from CD will not work. The boot sector of the CD looks for something in the BIOS of the computer it is installing to to find something with Dell... If you ever boot up a Dell, it goes to the Dell splash screen, and I'm guessing that is what the cd looks for.

I can understand that this way Dell keeps costs down, but I'd rather pay a little more and have clear communication and resolution of problems. Remember, unlike us, most people and businesses are paying full price for Dell's overpriced computers.

Silly people... paying full price... newbies

I want to say, me too :)

Although they were supposed to be mailed at the same date according to the status page, they arrived 2 weeks apart. But they arrived which is the important thing.
