Ditto here for both of my systems - they were actually two shipments that each came with the two rebates itemized on the shipping slip - YEAH :)

Hehe, I'm still running my Andara with MisterE's BIOS. In fact, I'm using it now. It's my little surfing and email machine downstairs. :D

What hardware and settings are you using for that nice OC?

A P4S333 145mhz bus and 4:5 memmory, haha, you just made me realize that I didnt change the voltage from when the 1.6 was in there, I ran it at 1.6 volts so right now that is what the 2.2 is getting, I also have a thread in off topic for folks to talk about what they are going to do with their 2400's

Rhess, according to Dell, it is 333 mhz RAM running at 266 mhz.

I am confused here: what kind of memory can I add: 333 or 266 RAM? If both are fine, can I mix them?

You should be able to mix and match, but if using 266, it will slow the 333 RAM down to the 266 RAM speed.

will it default to 266mhz if there's a 533fsb-capable chip instead of the 400 or would it go to 333mhz speed then?

I asked Dell the same question when my girlfriend got her Dimension 2300 a year back... according to them, CPU bus speed and memory bus speed are different... not sure how, but they are.

I came home today to find my Dell sitting in the hallway... guess my landlords signed for it.... either way, the info everyone wants to know:

BOTH rebates, listed seperately with different item numbers and descriptsions were listed.

here's the FSB story:

the mobo does run the bus to the CPU at full 100x4 = 400mhz bus speed. BUT: the RAM defaults to 266 (which is 133x2) because 133:100 (memory:CPU) is the same as 4:3 ratio, which is easy for the mobo to do. 166x2=333 would be 166:100 which would be 5:3, which isn't really possible on most boards, this one included, i'm sure.

if you slap in a 533mhz chip, it will run the CPU bus at 133x4 = 533mhz bus speed and the mobo can do the ram at the 166x2 = 333 becuase 166:133 = 5:4 which is easy for the mobo to do. don't ask me why, but that's just the way the 400 and 533fsb mobos work.

so, if you have 333 (pc2700) RAM, you're all set should you decide to upgrade to a much faster 533 chip in the future. :)

PS - i hope you all did what I did, and just got 128mb from dell and got a 512mb stick from somewhere else. mine was 54 dollars after a 25 dollar rebate. the upgrade to 256mb with Dell was 70 bucks, i think - which is just outrageous...

anyway, correct me, someone, if my post above is wrong...

Your explanation is fine - the ram that came with it is rated PC2700/333MHz but if you look in bios it actually shows that it is only running at 266(/PC2100) with the 2.2GHz CPU. System is surprisingly responsive - not like a 4600 or 8300 but it's only about 15s slower to boot and runs reasonably fast otherwise

Glad to hear they are going to pony up for both rebates. It seems they have a lot of problems updating their site ever since they went with the new website design. I have found more out outdated info. for rebates, promotions etc.

forgive me if this has already been addressed, but for the rebates... do we just use the same rebate form and submit it twice? or are there indeed different rebate forms?

I also can confirm that on the packing slip they are listing the two rebates as separate line items with unique SKUs. My box arrived today :)

And no, you should not send more than one form. This is stated on the rebate form itself--one form per purchase is what they need. The copy of the packing slip will tell them how many rebates to process for you.

ACK!

I missed my UPS delivery at home so I redirected it (UPS option) to my work the next day!

UPS PULLED OFF MY PACKING SLIP AND THREW IT AWAY so there would be no confusion about the address it was going to!

I called UPS and said I needed it for my $200 rebate and they said sorry, 60,000 packages an hour go through here, we'll never find it in the trash!

Word of advice! DON'T REDIRECT YOUR SHIPMENT!

DELL says it'll be 3 weeks until they get me a duplicate of the original that I can use for my rebate. That's cutting it close!

Dell should put the rebate stuff IN the box!

Thanks,

Dell rebate Intern said that a printed copy from the website was not acceptable, but got someone to "expedite" and mail me a new one by next week!

From the rebate FAQ....

Q Where can I find my packing slip?
A Your packing slip was delivered with your system in the clear, plastic envelope affixed to the outside of your package. If you have misplaced your packing slip, click here to have a duplicate sent to you.

I installed Linux Taroon on this box, but cant seem to get it to find the integrated Broadcom network card, anyone have any ideas? or thoughs?

I check the properties, its missing the interrupt, memory addresses, all of it.

Does it require another driver or something??

HELP please!thanks!

For other poor souls going to install linux on this machine I just read the Broadcom BCM4401, the model of integrated card on this box is one of the VERY few linus drivers not included on any kernel distrubtions so far

the lastest drivers are for download here :

Windows/Linux drivers for Broadcom BCM4401 integrated onboard network card
