This looks just as good as my 19" Sony Trinitron, and playing UT is almost the same as the CRT, no ghosting as I can tell (I play quit a bit). It may ghost in UT2003 since that is more graphic intensive than UT, but UT is still a better game than UT2003

money well spent, I can finally retire my big 19 CRT.

Thanks for the help guys.

I used the blurry screen as an excuse to get a new video card (hehe, so sneaky). I have a Radeon 9700 Pro coming this week and will be testing the monitor on it soon.

I LOVE THIS FORUM! Too bad I am broke now.

you should see a nice difference with the 9700 Pro's DVI connection.

I know I did.

What?!?

Trinitron is a CRT technology. This is a LCD we are talking about.

Like I said 'Clearly NOT a 'sony / trinitron' as claimed elsewhere"

i.e. http://www.softwareandstuff.com/h_mon_dell1800fp.html where it is described as a 'dell/sony'

I also saw some other thread ('wallet?' where it was implied to be a 'trinitron'...

Anyway, I hope to be getting a gforce 4 4200ti soon, and hopefully the display will be a bit better when viewing dvd movies...It is pretty good right now for 'computing', but dvd's are a bit hard to watch , particularly darker scenes such as LOTR.

I have not seen any issues with UT2003 or any other Unreal engine game ;). Nothing with Sum of All Fears either, though that is not exactly a fast paced game anyway.

Must admit I'm extremely happy with my $426 purchase :) 18" lcd at it's native resolution, 1280 x 1024, is significantly bonus that I didn't expect. :D

Hehe, I'm using mine and didn't notice any ghosting in games. I'm very happy with this LCD connected by 9700TX's DVI.

Hi all,

I missed the big sale, but I am planning on buying LCD.
There is currently a 20% monitors in SB...However they do charge something like 40$ in taxes...
Any one can assist me with getting the 40$ off or help me with a 35$ coupon that will counter it?

Thanks so much,
~t

I can be emailed at tkeinan@goimod.com.

Thanks all...

BTW: ne one compared the 1800fp with the hitachi/planar 17" 16ms? for the casual gamer which one you think is better?

A question for one of the fortunate ones who jumped on this deal, does the 1800fp have a swith on the front to manually change from DVI to the other input? I bought a 19" Sceptre LCD and it does not have a seperate switch, you have to go into the menu to change between the inputs.
Thanks for your help.

While I hate to bump a dead deal, I have to ask... does anyone know who makes the panel and controller for this monitor? Is it Samsung and Pixelworks, respectively? Thanks!
