No dice, probably because I already have one. The paperwhite is going to be updated soon anyway I guess so I'll wait.

Wow really? How soon and what are the new features? Kindle paperwhite (1st gen) owner here.

I'm a mind reader! I predict in 1 week's time you'll see a bunch of Kindles in the for sale section here going for $40. Book it!

I'm not special either, only got the financing option. bastages!

Dang, older Kindle and Prime member but only the financing offer. I was looking for a deal on the Paperwhite too.

Ridiculous. My wife has a fire HD. Prime member for 3 years and I have spent over $11000 with them in the last 3 years. Throw me a freaking bone!

Anyone interested in getting me an HD for $75 shipped to me?

Why would they? Sounds like they already have you where they want you ;)

That being said I also did not qualify. I do spend a fair bit each year and both my wife and I have kindles (paperwhite for her, HD for me) so I guess they figured they own us enough already. That and I do have my employee discount code linked to my account, that alone might make me ineligible.

No offer bummer. :(

Already have a first gen Paperwhite and purchase a fair amount of eBooks, though. They already got me, don't need to lure me into their ecosystem with cheap Kindles LOL.

They are offering me $5 off Fire TV in the "Quick Picks" section of Today's Deals.

Yay.

Got the offer.. now which one to pick? I don't really NEED a tablet, but for the price, the HDX is tempting. On the other hand, if I bought the Paperwhite, I might actually read more.

Edit: bought the Paperwhite. What the heck. At that price I can't complain.

I was oh so hoping to get this offer. Prime member who hasn't bought a single kindle device (I have preferred epub) but at $44 I'd jump to upgrade to a glow-type device over my older sony.

Edit: To be clear, I have the 20% upfront offer with 4 monthly payments after. Additionally, as someone who currently resides in Canada, and goes back and forth between the two countries, I'm not sure I want to deal with the hassle of the amazon bookstore.

I'm interested to get this and see if I miss the extra real estate from my Sony PRS-950. Other than the fact that the store went kaput, it's pretty much the ideal device for me. I love the form factor and wish the others would follow suit with a slightly larger screen.

I got the offer, thanks OP!

The best part about this deal is I was planning on buying the Paperwhite anyway. :D

That's what happened to me. I didn't consider myself a reader until I got one. I don't read as much as many, but a little bit before bed every nights means I get through several books a year.

Prime Member with Kindle Fire HD 8.9" and a regular Kindle Touch 16 orders in 2014. I have the 20% initial payment. I'd get a Paper White for that price for sure if it was available to me.

Damn I'm jealous, I would've jumped on a Paperwhite for $44, but I don't have the offer. Oh well, still waiting for that rumored high-DPI Paperwhite upgrade.
