So I turn on my monitor tonight, and I THOUGHT about 100-300 new dead pixels showed up out of nowhere, i was ready to freak out. Turned out my cat sneezed in my ashtray. =)

STILL loving this monitor, although, I noticed that once in a blue moon, I'll turn it on and get red lines everywhere, and I have to turn it off & on again to clear it out. How common is this?

I read all your posts and posts on Overclockers. I can't believe I missed out on such an awesome deal.
I decided to call Dell and ask for a pricematch. I got a nice representative and she said that if I could prove that other people bought it for $750 with free shipping she would match the price or if I found a better price somewhere on the net she would match it.
Help, does anyone have any ideas.

Just got back from vacation, and setup the dell which I received before I left, but didn't have time to play with. It is a really nice monitor, and from a cursory check, I couldn't see any dead pixels on mine, which I'm perfectly happy with. I do see some light leaking in the background, but I have to check it out in the evening, because there is too much light leaking from the windows.

I'm just curious, can people post their lcd settings, I'm particularly interested in the brightness and color scheme. I'm currently using a brightness of 25, and the red color scheme, because thats the closest to what I'm use to with my old lcd, the sgi 1600sw.

like i2ripped, I also can't believe I missed this deal. The cheapest I can get the 2001FP on dell's site is $899.10 does anyone have any way to get the thing for less?

They are all over Ebay for less than that.

I just ordered one today from Dell. Its 15 percent off till the 7th and free shipping. So 849 and some odd cents shipped. Not much more than 749 plus shipping all things considered.

I ordered this when OP posted the deal. Got it several weeks ago but finally today I got around to opening the box and installing it, replacing my 2000FP. Manufacture date 11/2003. No dead pixel. Color is much richer and overall display quality is noticeably improved over the 2000FP. The stand is totally cool too. I'm so glad I decided to upgrade. No white area problem like other posters mentioned. Thanks to OP for posting the deal.

I do notice the screen is a little grainy as mentioned before, and it comes and goes, but the colors are much more vibrant than on my 2000FP so I'll be keeping it. Only one stuck pixel, in the scroll bar on the right so I don't really care.

What did everyone decide regarding the backlight bleed? Did anyone find it irritating enough to return? Mine (October A00) has excessive bleed, but no bum pixels. Just wondering how painful the return process was, if people got back worse monitors than they started with, etc.

Examples of my bleed:
Black Screen - this is a little exagerrated in the pic since there's no brightness reference, but you can see I have multiple areas it's bleeding from that do impact DVD viewing
DVD watching

Any comments on how my bleed compares with other people's would be greatly appreciated.

The last time I returned something to Dell, no problem, until a month or so later Federal Express came after me for the return shipping! It seems Dell gave them an invalid shipper number and FedEx feels I am responsible for the bill. They have my address and just used Dell as my name.

I hope this was a one time mixup. Anyone else have anything similar happen????

I convinced some guy on eBay to sell me one for $800 shipped, and I just got it today.

Rev A00, Nov. 2003 mfr. date

No white leakage, and I've been hunting for dead pixels but can't seem to find any.. so I ran the test and I think I found one, but nothing I can even notice unless i get right up close to the screen.

Beautiful LCD, and it's my first one, too.

Just started playing some games.. and for some reason I can seem to notice tearing or ghosting on my stuff..

Descent 3: Should I expect ghosting on this game? It is very fast-paced so I might be forgiving on this one. I'm running it 1600x1200.

Quake 3: Seems pretty good.

What resolution is optimal to play at if I can't run 1600x1200?

It's wierd, from what I can tell the grainy effect is due to my eyes focusing through the plastic that covers the LCD, I noticed it when I first sit in front of the LCD, but after a while, I have to try to notice it.
