The promedia 5.1 sub is ok, even compared to the Logitech 5500 sub. The Dayton 10 easily outpaces the Promedia sub. It is less muddy, more accurate, and definately more detailed.
This is coming from someone with 2 SVS CS Ultra tube subs.

Thanks. So, which would be the better sub, the 5500 or the 5.1 ultras?

We got ours a couple days ago...it sounds awesome. It blends perfectly in with the music, i.e. doesn't sound like a separate speaker.
A question though...are these dayton sub-120's made from an amalgamation of parts from other companies?
Cause the back looks like this: 2d_1_b.JPG (from a picture I found on the i-net, not mine)
If you look closely, you can see that the back panel came from an Acoustech labs s100eth. So looks like they're using the amplifier section from Acoustech, and maybe replaced the 10" driver with a larger 12"?? (sorry i don't know subwoofers at all really).

I'd assume they use their own parts. Partsexpress has a wide variety of dayton components to give you an idea of what they have.
Just looking through briefly, I saw this plate amp they sell that looks very similar to the picture you linked to

I'm not sure on brands using other components or what's going on as far as labeling things differently.

I just got mine today and the back looks like the photo except that the label says "Dayton Audio" instead of "Acoustech Labs." There was some minor cosmetic damage, but I'm going to let it go.
Is it supposed to rest directly on the floor? There were four screw-on feet included, but there are no holes to screw the feet into.

Hah, so Dayton is just using relabeled Acoustech Labs parts.
Yoyo - is Dayton a quality brand??
