How are these drives? About 2 months ago I got in on the Cendyne 24x ($34.99) deal which turned out to be lite-on. Is there any real need to get in on this deal?

I thought 34.99 was good!!!!
Whats up with the $20 now

CenDyne has posted a firmware updates (X8S6) for the Verbatim mfg drives, so there's no need to flash the Verbatim to a LiteOn just to update the firmware. Link to CenDyne/Verbatim updates

FYI : You cannot flash a Verbatim 321240AL to a LiteOn 48x drive.

Just as a heads up , I noticed today that all the model CW-3201 OptoRite drives I have were packaged with NTI CD Maker instead of NERO.

Ffactoryox --- --- There is a good chance that you can flash your 24 Cendyne/Lite-on to 32-12-40 . Check <a target=new class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?s=67fc93aa61ba351902389d68b13057b7&threadid=45977

No need to buy another. Give it a shot.

erniecc- I don't really know what your talking about. This drive is a 32x12x40 right out of the box. No flash required. There has been no reference to a 24x drive here.

Went to OfficeMax today planning on picking up one of these. The manager, Jason Dilaura, wouldn't accept the Staples coupon though and sent me on a runaround before admitting that. At first he said sure, they would honor the coupon, and proceeded to sell me the drive for the "regular" price of $109.99 - $15 staples coupon. When I pulled out the ad that stated that they sold it for $79.99, he went ahead and "corrected" the mistake and rung it up for $79.99. I wasn't going to pay for the drive without the coupon though and pointed out that they didn't apply it. He told me he would only allow one or the other, the $79.99 price or the coupon. I did my best to explain to him that the store price was $79.99 and that the coupon should apply to that price, but after 45 minutes of my time had been wasted did he finally admit that he wouldn't sell me the drive for $79.99 - $15. I left the store in disgust.

Tomorrow I'm going to go again and see if I can get them to ring it up again for $94.99 ("regular" price minus the Staples coupon). Perhaps after fraudulently selling me a product for a higher-than-advertised price will Jason Dilaura be more helpful.

I got the type S lite on. He wouldn't accept the $15 staples coupon, but he gave me the $10 Office Max one. For 5 bucks, I didn't really care. I knew I was getting a Liteon from the Serial # and the 2 mb buffer. the difference between $25 and $30 after rebate isn't really a big deal. I didn't fight for the 5 bucks, because I would have felt cheap to argue over it. Plus, I was happy that I picked up the Dlink DI 704P router too. Running ICS was slowing down the other computer too much.

kevinxf I want the Mitsumi if you don't, please email me.

pbrain, Jason Dilaura is an A*S!!! Don't put up with that BS, they are OBLIGATED to give you the correct price! I would have really raised some hell at that store. You need to report him to 'headquarters' or corporate about that.

EvanGeliSt do you want the page I saved or not?

Which name, "computer" or "Clint"? :) I was surprised 'computer' was not taken here, and 'Clint' was given at birth. :D

pbrain & The Dancing Peacock

Print out the page on the OfficeMax web site that says " In addition, OfficeMax.com will honor coupons from other office product superstores. Please call 1-800-283-7674 for complete details" and take that with you Link to page If the manager gives you more $hit ask him to write down his name and enployee number so you can use it when you call officemax HQ.

Or you can do what warmachine & JayRock did, called local store put CDRW on hold. Then called officemax.com placed order for pickup in store add some FAR items (if there are still some available) to bring order over $100 and use a $25 off coupon code.

And don't forget the Staples $19.99 32x CenDyne starting sunday. LINK

$19.99?????? Wow. Will Omax pricematch that? Doesn't really matter at that price. Is that B&M only or can you get that price onine? (No B&M Staples here). Is that price AR? I wonder if one could order it now onine, then get the price difference when they go for $19.99. ?
Thanks.
