Just to verify this: when sending in mail-in rebates, a print out of the online order confirmation/receipt is valid, right? Or do I send a copy of the pink Customer Delivery Receipt that came with the mailed package. Thanks...

From rebateshq.com faq:

I purchased the product that I am submitting a rebate for online and did not receive a receipt. Can I still receive a rebate?

Qualifying purchases made online should have been accompanied by a packing slip. For these purchases, the packing slip may be used as the receipt.

So send in a copy of your customer delivery receipt (packing slip)

Those who still want to get in on this without going to a B&M still can. OfficeMax has ALMOST taken this drive off of their site. When you look at all the CDRW drives, they don't list it, but when you do a search for Cendyne, it will list 5 drives, this one is one of them. IMPORTANT - you must order this from the Cendyne drive listing search results page that shows all 5 of the matching drives. If you try to go to the page to see the details of just this drive, it will say:

"Sorry, This product is currently unavailable".

But they will let you order it directly from THIS PAGE

I used a 25 off 100 found HERE and added the Imation 50 pack CDR (1.99 after rebates), canned air (free after rebates) and some packing tape I needed to hit $100.57 before coupon.

Order confirmation email indicates it will be delivered on Monday!!

ATers must have been returning their none "W"s, cuz I found a open box verbatim for $10 off, making the drive 14.99 AR w.o buying anything else =), hope this one turns out to be a W anyway.

from what I understood, the verbatims were the type S lite ons.

I'm happy with my type S. Maybe with firmware, they can get the Mt. Rainier on these in the future, or is there something physical within the drive that they need to change??

Mt. Rainier info is in this thread somewhere. Look for it for ALL the info, but in short, it has to be built into the drive and I doubt a firmware update would include it. Among the drives listed in this thread, the Mitsumi w/16mb buffer is the only one that supports it.

Did anyone get the free CID phone?

My damn CID isn't working with it. Yes, I have the service, my Sony portable works perfectly.

I tossed the manual, any thing special i need to do? Maybe someone very nice could scan it for me? :)

No Mt. Rainier, but the Verbatim's can be firmware flashed to become a Lite-on...

I mention this because someone mentioned it in this thread. I just got the Staples email for Sunday, and they have the Cendyne 32x CDRW drive for $39 AR. Link (That link MIGHT only work for me since a zip code has to be entered. I had to enter the one for the closest store which is in MS and I'm in LA). This particular deal is B&M only it would seem. I have no Staples in this area, does anyone know if in these cases I can buy I.S. specials online?

I tried ordering one but the drive shows up as $129 and it says that this is "after" the $30 instant savings so I don't know what to do, it does'nt look lie they are going to let us order online for this item and get the savings.

If you need to buy the 32x CenDyne from OfficeMax try putting in your order by phone (800-283-7674. option 1) for delivery or in-store pick-up.

Just got back from in-store pickup... They wouldn't take the online coupon #, but it wasn't a total loss, as I got a Lite-On S model.

Thanks * 10E6 MysticMan1! <happily gibbers away, dancing a jig> :D

You should also try to give they the Staples $15 off $75 coupon or even the $10 off $50 Staples email coupon would have help save you some money and there also there the 32x CenDyne $19.99 deal at Staples next week. Paying $40 for your 32x drive is too much money.

Thanks again, MysticMan! I followed your suggestion, and went back to the store with the Staples coupon printout and (just for the hell of it) the dealnews.com page where it lists the OM coupon codes. Turns out, the dealnews.com page was all I needed in the first place! (The manager did get a little worried when he thought I was gonna try to use the Staples coupon too :))

You're right... The LiteOn is a LOT sweeter now that it's only gonna cost $15... :D
