Came home from work this morning and found this:

I'm appalled. I will not allow my property to be used as a cemetery.

I always wondered where all the dead birds go. You look around and see hundreds of them every day, but rarely do I ever see a dead one. Maybe they have found a place to rest.

Is that a worm? Don't touch it; could be evidence. Have it tested for poison.

I see dead birds all the time as road kill, or just laying on the ground. I have pigeons nesting in crevices of my house that I need to fix, and sometimes, the baby ones fall onto my walkways. My dogs have gotten a few birds too. I've come home from work to find feathers all over my backyard.

I had a dead hawk in my back yard a few years ago. I couldn't figure out what happened to it. I puzzled over that off and on for a couple years, and it finally clicked. I had a zip line setup for my daughter, and the hawk clotheslined itself on the cable. I felt terrible when I realized that :^(

In the south that's not called a dead bird. It is called DINNER!

Probably flew into your window or door. I get about 5-6 fatal bird strikes a year on my large window in the back of our house. Sometimes they hit and lay on the ground dazed for a few minutes and then get up and shake it off.

Last year I had a bird that would repeatedly fly into my front window. Bam... shakes it off and does it again 10 seconds later. This would go on for 5-10 minutes a couple times a day for weeks.

Dove in to catch something and hit the cable which it didn't see. Birds are fairly delicate, and a hawk diving to catch something could easily kill itself on a cable. I'm just speculating, but it makes sense considering it's position on the ground.
