I can also validate that this deal is no fluke. If you pick up a copy of the
national sales flyer, you will see that the rebate offer is in-store only. I am
also assuming the additional 10% is in-store only, with purchase of qualifing
of software (such as HL2 which is required for the rebate anyway). As far as
which titles other than HL2 qualify, I cannot really say. Others will have to
comment on that. Just buy the card with HL2 and you should be set.

can someone go into greater detail on this? when u say video doesn't work, do you mean like streaming video that plays in Windows Media Player?

I wonder if Best Buy will still honor the rebate after people's getting the 10% off?

It's a great deal if Best Buy actually honors the rebate and sends them out promptly. Do you have to mail in a rebate form, or can you do it online (like Staples's Easy Rebates)?

I might jump in on this if I can bring myself to gamble that I'll get the $105 rebate. I figure I'll have to send it by registered mail or some such so that they can't use the excuse that they never received it.

I think I need some help with Rivatuner. I installed the card using the NVidia 66.93 drivers. I went thru the procedures to put checks by the hardware items in Riva, and though I enabled everything, but my benchmark scores are about the same as before.

When I load up RivaTuner, it says 12x1,5, but when I hit customize and look at the NVStrap Driver tab, the Graphics Processor Configuration is listed as "custom (16x1,6vp). But again, my 3DMark scores are almost identical as before I did the RivaTuner mods. Is there some way my changes are not taking affect? Any ideas?

Thanks!
Aaron

im having similar problems you are turning the card into a full 16 pipeline card with the exception that my card came at a default 12x1,6vp without me doing anything to it whatsoever. any one know the reasoning for this?

i also had this problem and on another card. seems these cards won't unlock. hopefully someone has an answer

Apparently NVidia might have caught on and it now not allwoing the softmods to work on the newer cards. There's a sticky over in the RivaTuner forum at Guru3d.com and the developer of RivaTuner posts there. He's asking for register dumps of the cards that are not working, but basically he says with the newer hardware, you're SOL for the softmod.

At least the user above got the extra shader. 🙂

Hi-def WMV and (I think) Mpeg-4 hardware assist on the videocard doesn't work. Shouldn't be a problem since those features didn't exist on nvidia cards prior to the 6X00 series

Just picked one up here at the East Colonial Orlando store about 45 mins ago. Was at least 3 left when I left, maybe 7 more. Haven't installed it yet or anything to see if the soft-mod thing works. Will do that later most likely. Getting a new PS today, so might wait for that first.

Rang up as $269 for me @ BB in Lakewood, CA! In fact, I returned the very same card I bought over the weekend for full price ($299) and got in on this deal instead. I'll probably play Half Life 2 for a while and then ebay it when I get bored of it. So $269 + $55 - $105 (MIR) - $40 (approx HL2 value) = $179. Not too bad.

I see no reason to believe they would not honor the rebate. It is their
rebate after all. The rebate form printed from their register at time
of checkout. BTW, the rebate form is available online (just a printable version),
but I am using the one printed in the store since it already has the SKU's printed.
This rebate is snail mail only.

It actually does work (decoding at least), but it's not up to full speed and never will be. The current state of decoding assist is pretty disappointing. I only got a 10% improvement over software decoding on my Athlon 64 and 6800GT system using the updated drivers.

OCNewbie, Did it ring up as $270 or $300? I'm in Orlando too and would like to know!

Rang up at $299.99, but then a screen popped up and adjusted the price to $269.99

What's the power consumption like on these cards? WIll I have trouble with this in a SFF system (ideq) with a 220W PSU?

I recieved an email today from Best Buy with a printable $20 off $200 purchase instantly in store. Anyone know if this will work with the in store popup 10% off people are getting? Im going tonight to try cause this would be smoking hot with another $20 off.

Check your emails if you are on BestBuys Im sure they sent this coupon out to mass amounts of people

Well I got the card today. I got the last one on the shelf in austin tx. Maybe they have more in the back. My too rang up at 269.99. Nice deal. I`m probably going to sell hl2 on ebay and farcry since I already have these games. Then i`m selling my 9500pro. With everything sold and the rebate the card should bring the total cost of this card to $55. I`m so happy right now. 😀

The minimum specs recommend nothing less than 300 watts. I would probably stick to that unless you have extremely efficient 220 watt power supply.

Assuming the PM to Fry's works for $249.99, the $105 rebates works after PM, and $20 off $200 Bestbuy coupon works.

$249.99 + $55 -$20 = $284.99 - $105 MIR = 179.99

How likely will this work out?

I am getting on this deal this week as well. Dont forget to give your Reward Zone card receive about $10 back in gift card too for those who have the RZ membership.

Not likely, in my opinion. Best Buy is already offering a good deal on this. I doubt they would go any lower, even to match a competitor.
