fyi, i didn't see about the $20 off 'til after i purchased the card. i went back and they gave it to me no problem, but it took a while - for some reason the coupon didn't scan so they finally did a return and rebuy. i still have the original rebate receipt tho so i'm not too worried about that. give it a try!

The only thing I know about so far to indicate that the BFG is likely unlockable is there will be a circle inside? a check mark in the upper right corner of the fan side (front) of the card. And if it's a newer one, and likely not unlockable, it'll have a sticker that says "A60" on the front left side of the card. Both of these should be visible without opening the package.

My card is softmodable, I will look to see what markings are on mine to help confirm any theories.
The unlocked pipes do not really translate into a large performance increase, expect for some synthetic
benchmarks. I believe overclocking the memory will produce the biggest performance gains.

As far as the PNY card from CompUSA's black friday sale, I took mine back even before I installed it.
I saw a resistor floating around in the box! I was unable to exchange it because they were out of
stock. I am know glad that deal didn't work out because I beleive this is a better deal. The BFG card
also seems to be a better card (comes with FarCry, the PNY card doesn't), and the lifetime warranty
doesn't hurt either. The only downside to the Best Buy deal is if you already own HL2. I didn't so it
worked great for me.

gah, it wouldnt be so bad if the gf wasnt gonna be with me but she gets off at 6 and i get off at 5 plus 30 min. drive home from work, ugh pray for me!









hmm... unless i bust serious ass over there before 6 and pick it up.

Thanks OCNewbie...my local BB has loads of BFGs but all of them with the A60 sticker and multi-colored capicators. If I remember correctly I came across a post that someone with BFG showing both the A60 sticker and multi-colored capicators managed to unlock all 16 pipes so I was hoping I might be able to luck out but I haven't seen anyone else confirm that to be true...

I tried to apply both 10% discount and $20 discount, and only got the 10% discount (even though the $20 discount is showing on my MIR!!)

edit: ohh dear..... I got the 10% discount off of hl2 (totaling 3.67 off or 51.32) and then only got $20 off the BFG, instead of the %10 ($30). I may end up going back in there so maybe i'll get it figured out then.

i returned the first 6800 i got at BB and got another... this one sucessfully unlocked. sweetness

my cpu dies on the 2k5 test, some of the tests i cant even get 1 fps
also in the 2k5 test with it unlocked, i get these weird black lines in the picture, guess i got some artifacts.

FWIW - I picked up an A60 card with the multi-colored capacitors. It's fully unlocked and runs 3DMark03 without a hint of a problem.

9423 3DMarks -- Up from 5858 3DMarks with an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. Not too bad!

Woohoo! Picked up the last one on the shelf tonight but now I need some help collecting the rebate!

I'm travelling in Florida from Canada, made the mistake of reading the forums - I shamelessly admit that I have an addiction to reading the Hot Deal forum, and simply could not pass up a great deal!

The problem is the rebate form fields are specific to the US. So instead of sending in the rebate, proof, etc. and most likely getting it rejected since my mailing address is not in the US, I'm willing give someone the $105 rebate for $95. PM me if you are interested in making an easy $10 by you waiting for the rebate - the rebate form states you should receive the rebate within 8 weeks... and it can be checked through Best Buy's 1-888 number.

I did the same thing but decided just to forfeit the $10 rather than go back and try to get it straightened out. I'm 17 and don't think I'd get very far trying to get my $10 back.

I just bought the card yesterday. No "A60" sticker, check-circle mark. I was able to enable both the extra pipe and pixel shader, but when playing Farcry the PC would lock up with the extra pipe enabled. Works great with only the shader enabled. I will try overclocking the card tonight. Even though I wasn't able to get all 16 pipes, I'm pretty happy so far. Hopefully, the card will handle the overclock well. GP

Spaceman, BB not that dumb (well in some cases) the rebate ends TODAY. Better get over there quick. Take a look at the link, $105 rebate ends 12/04. HL2 deal starts tomorrow.

BTW, JustforFun, they will PM HL2, but the rebate will be reduced. It clearly states the rebate will be made less.

you can't combine the 10% with the 20 off 200. it even says in the fine print but it didn't say that you couldn't combine both coupon for a rebate however it's more than likely they will either give you the 20 off 200 or just the 10% and cmp1223 is right, BB isnt that dumb.
