Dude relax don't hose your load all over your keyboard just yet (unless you just saw the Wonder Bread girl then it's ok).
He said he received his order ACKNOWLEDGEMENT which most of us have already received.
If someone receives their order CONFIRMATION and then Shipment Notification that's cause for joy.

Looks like the official Dell Customer Care forums have a similar discussion going on. I was wondering when that might happen. It would be interesting if there was some official Dell statement on the matter. If there were, that's where it would be I would imagine...

anyone think I should call Dell? I only ordered one... so worst case scenario i dont get the deal and i cancel on the phone.
Don't fire the employee, heck if everyone there was top notch they would never have these deals. If they honor all these purchases think how much better Dell's image would be, atleast on Hot Deals websites...it would be a revolution for the company, embracing bargain-hunters...I think the Dell execs are mulling over do we honor our fsck up (AGAIN) and lose $$$$$$$ or do we piss off everyone and their cat by cancelling orders and firing a Dell employee?

Same here.
Dell should have a verification system like we do here at work (bank).
If I create a monetary transaction, let's say I credit your account $5,000.00 ... someone else other than me HAS to verify that transaction's source and legitimacy before it posts to the account.
Similiarly Dell should have a verification system in place whenever price is affected to prevent these frequent goof ups from happening.
What makes you think that they $70 is losing money on a X3i (but I suspect it is). Dell obviously has these made in China and buys them by the thousands. Also I'll bet that a lot of Dells products change price, along with the price of TFTs or digitizers, or Xscale processors. Of course computers are notorious for their extremely low profit margins. However, I thought that is why Dell wanted into the consumer electronics arena (TVs, Printers, Mp3 Player, Handheld PC etc) because they have higher profit margins.Dell should just make it so the system can not set a price lower than dells own cost, and require a bunch of tech and managment overrides to set loss leader pricing
