One of the Woot staff posted in their forums that the current revision of the 650PCI can do ClearQ.I've had a 650 PCI for a 1.5 years. It doesn't do Clear Qam - the PCIe does.
We are confirming with the manufacturer now but the specs sheets sent to us directly from the manufacturer list both the PCI and the PCIe versions as having QAM. My guess is that older versions found on some links posted here did not have QAM but newer versions did.
edit: We have confirmation from the manufacturer that both the TVW600PCIE and TVW650PCI have Clear QAM support.
One tip, do not install the Catalyst Media Center, it is garbage. Use Windows media center
One of the Woot staff posted in their forums that the current revision of the 650PCI can do ClearQ.
I would say the opposite. Catalyst Media Center only tunes to the channels that are available to recieve. MCE tunes every channel that they have available on your channel guide. Which means that you spend forever surfing in an endless series of channels that don't even come in at all, just to find one that does. It's totally useless.
As was already posted, woot screwed up big time, this is a TVW650PCIV card. It does NOT have hardware MPEG2 encoding.
They changed the description on the front page, and they also said they will send out e-mails about the error in the morning, so people can cancel if they want.
On ATI's website, the only difference between the 600 and the 650 is that the 650 has hardware accelerated mpeg2 encoding, a few analog quality enhancement features, and fm radio.
No, I think woot's just getting confused over their own confusion here. It has the hardware mpeg2 encoding, I think diamond's website just fails to state it.
1. Diamond's website also doesn't say it has svideo or composite input, which woot says is possible with a breakout box.
2. The hardware between the tvw650pci and the tvw650pciv seem to be the same, just one comes with a remote.
3. If we're to take Diamond's website at face value, the tvw650pciv, despite being a higher model number, is less featured than the tvw600pci.
Woot might be confused the diamond 650PCI and PCIe cards should have hardware MPEG-2 as seen in the above links
I think Woot was confused about the original product ID. But I think they've since been pretty clear about the 650 model they were selling being: http://www.diamondmm.com/TVW650PCIV.php
That's a 650 without hardware mpeg2.
I canceled my order.
