Here's what I did:

Brick & mortar yesterday, bought 40x with a $15 off $75 from staples printed coupon. It was $99.99 - $15 + tax = $93.
Today, I seen that staples had it listed on a shelf for $79.99, so I drove down street to officmax, happened to still have my receipt, and asked them if they'd adjust the price/price guarantee with Staples, as they had a drive I bought the day before for $20 less.

While, he didn't match it at 115%, he did give me the $15 off coupon again, so I was refunded my $93, and then charged: 99.99 - $20 price match - $15 coupon = 64.99 +tax = $71, and I'll get the rebate for $40. Net cost roughly $31.

I'm happy. Got a 32x from staples (also a lite-on) for $25 after rebate that I haven't opened yet...gonna return it in the morning. :)

Is this one any different initially from the Cendyne 32X 5w OC model other than it starts out as a 40X(possible same with different firmware)?

Also, does OfficeMax have in store coupons like Staples? Thanks.

I heard that Cendyne CD-RW's are junk.

Also, many people complain about not receiving their Cendyne rebates. Is this true?

Neither are true, especially if you look and get a Lite-On in the box. Have had no prob with Cendyne reabtes cause they go to Parago.

I think Office max is selling the drive for $129 now - 20 IR - 40 mir - 25 (100-25 coupon) = 44.

Is there any store selling it cheaper so i can pricematch. Are all Office MAX coupons for online only? The only
coupons i can find are links that give an automatic discount of 25. Can anyone PM me an INSTORE coupon code
or a coupon code i can use for PHONE orders. Thanks a bunch.

EDIT: Called OfficeMax, CSR told me to fill out an online pricematch form. Pricematch will have to be reviewed first before approval. I will have to skip this one as it is a hassle. BTW, staples is selling the drive for $79.

Update #5 (for those who are still counting) :)
OfficeMax has the Cendyne 40x12x48 for $129.99, Staples is selling it for $79.99 have OfficeMax price match (115%) the Staples price.

The deal now is: Cendyne 40x12x48 (officemax item #20160442) $129.99 - $57.50 PM (115%) - $40 Officemax MIR = $32.49
To make the deal hotter add $27.50 worth of item (free after rebate if you can find any) so you can use the $25 off $100 OfficeMax coupon and get the items for $2.50 or take $25 off the final 40x drive price = $7.49

There's more info on how to do this deal at the beginnig of this thread.

The "Hi Val 16X 100-Pack CDR $30 - $30 MIR = $0.00" deal isn't legit... they are $50 with $30 rebate, so $20. Not hot.

Wife got this deal, player is good!

Did the $35 rebate on the $40 200-pack of CD-ROMS discussed in the other thread...

OfficeMax store also allowed us to use the office-max $25 off $100 online coupon, despite it being online only. We had a legit Staples (flyer mailing) $20 off $100 with us, so perhaps that helped... only $5 more.

OfficeMax removed the on-line $20 instant rebate for the Hi Val 16X 100-Pack CDR . but you can still get the $20 instant rebate by asking OfficeMax to price match the in-store price for Hi Val 16X 100-Pack CDR after you order them at the on-line price by calling CS right after you put in your order. Under their "low price gurantee" they will PM their own store.

Link to OfficeMax ad with Hi Val 16X 100-Pack CDR for free after rebate (Billings, Montana)

If you perfer the ValueDisc 200 pack for $4.99 after rebate that ad is here : Link ValueDisc 200 pack CDRs ad (Brooklyn, New York

Flaw in your calculations. You can't take the full 25.00 off and apply it to the Cendyne alone. Since you used another item to "fill up" to 100 to use the 20 or 25 off 100 coupon then you have to allocate a portion to the "fill up" item. Consequently you can't apply the full 20.00 off for your net cost on the Cendyne. Can only apply approx 80% of the 20.00 or 16.00. Thus instead of it being 7.50 it should be approximately 11.50.

Still not a bad deal and thanks for the posting.

What you can do is print-out the $25 off $100 coupon page or print the page showing the price of the drive with the $25 coupon discount taken off the price, then take that to your local store, and tell your one of those friendly OfficeMax managers that you dont have CC or any other card to purchase the drive on-line and would he honor the $25 coupon, so you can purchase the drive from him. This has worked many time before, for a number of poeple, but it up the to manager if they want to honor the $25 coupon on-line only coupon or not.

Here's what your missed, if I understand what your trying to say. After the PM is OK'ed the price of the drive would be around "$72.51" (115% PM) - $40 MIR = around "$32. 49" - $25 coupon = "$7.49". To use the 25 off 100 coupon you need to add around "$27.51". Hi Val 16X 100-Pack CDR "$29.99" - $30 MIR = "$0.00". I might off a little but it looks good to me. :)

This deal you do online? For both pm's, do you fill out the form?

If its done by phone, they might ask for coupon when the items ship.

If its done in person, how do you show the coupon?

I can't seem to locate a 25 off 100 code anywhere for OM (maybe I'm just an idiot). Can anyone hook me up with a lead on one?

Cool! I just got my online pricematch request back. Approved ;)
Now all I have to do is order it and then e-mail them with my order number.
I requested it monday night after my local store was out.
I think I am going to check another semi-local store tonight.
I called them last night and they said they had 12 in stock.
I'd like to see what I'm buying to ensure it is a liteon that I'm getting.

Well I picked one up at the store. It is a verbatim.
You would never know this is a liteon. This front bezel has verbatim on it.
The sticker on the top of the drive lists verbatim VBT401248A.
There isn't even an FCC ID listed on it. Though I think it is PPQWR1003.
The verbatim on the bezel may drive me nuts.

The story:
Showed them print out of staples.com price.
Manager had employee verify staples.com price by going online.
OfficeMax's price tag listed 139.99 but the current price was 99.99 (at the store).
So a pricematch was only 23 dollars. However the manager only pricematched it at 79.98.
I didn't realize till I was already leaving.
Probably should have ordered online but I opened it already and cut the stuff out for the rebates.
I'll install it tonight and see about flashing it to 48x!
First I have to figure out how to arrange stuff in my case (5 ide devices now).

With taxes it was $84.78 - 40 = 44.78.

Not bad but I could have done better ;)
