Nice deal, Mystic Man. Too bad I already have a 32x that is serving me well. I really don't have a need for this, but... :)

I got the free CD player from a hard drive deal at OM. The CD player is generic (made by RPI) and is very fat, cheap, and ugly.

You have to order by phone to get the $99.99 price.

How is the price different from ordering on the phone? Does it come up that way? Also, do they ask you for a coupon code on the phone or do you just mention it? Someone please explain this to me...I've only ordered online. Thanks in advance.

chadeades: here's what I did. This was my first phone order at Office Max too...

Me: I'd like to order a CD-RW drive. The item number is XXXXXX. What's the price?
CSR: $99.xx
Me: I'd like to use an online coupon; it's $25 off $100.
CSR: You need to purchase something else because the total has to be greater than $100.
Me: OK. Here's the item I'd like to purchase also (the paper clip)
CSR: What's your coupon?
Me: I have a URL that shows me the coupon (the URL gotten from another site) and it's http:://xxxxxxxxxxx
CSR: OK. The total comes to $7x.xx. Are you going to pay by credit card?
....

That's about it.

Call 800-283-7674. option 1, tell the CS rep. that you want to order the $99.99 Cendyne 40x12x48 drive item number "20160442", (you also have to add some item to get the order over $100 to use the $25 off $100 OfficeMax coupon) then tell the CS rep that you want to use a coupon and give them the code ( #????), if asked, you received the code in a email. That basically it, just make sure you get the $99.99 price.

Called and did everything that you told me. CSR was very nice, but said that it was $129.99 everywhere and even double checked it for me. She said it may have been 99.99 in the past, but prices change and update. Darn...I wanted this too!

Thanks again nice deal

Glad to see that you had no problems ordering...took a quick look? Man, I was so tempted that I tried again and told the CSR that I wanted to match CircuitCity.com. She told me that I had to fill out a pricematch request form and it takes 24 hours. I went ahead though and ordered the burner for $111 shipped after using a $25 coupon. The pricematch should bring it down to $81. And then $41 after the rebate. I'm hoping that they match CC...if not I'm screwed on this deal.

HMMMM I wonder if I could pricematch it to this link HERE and get this burner for $12.37 AR!!!

EDIT: Doh! Nevermind...didn't see that it had to be an office superstore to PM. Plus shipping is outrageous for next day at that site and OM only PM's to the price + next day shipping.

Got it! Office Max just delivered my drive. Thanks for the awesome deal!

However, the $0.29 paper clips are nowhere to be found. Are they shipped separately? I feel so bad and wish there was a way to tell them not to ship them.

rcracerx, didn't the CS Rep said anything about adding the cost of Circuit City.com's overnight shipping, which they're suppost to do?

Problem. There's no receipt in the box. What should I do to get the rebate? Anybody ordered by phone before?

Thanks.

Update: I called Office Max and the CSR sent a copy of the invoice to my e-mail account as well as put in a note to send a paper one. So all should be fine.

Here's some food for thought. This is a pretty stubborn deal for me. I place my order last night and the CSR told me that I could go ahead and get the CD-RW for $129.99 - $25 coupon so I did. She told me to send off a price match form on their web site regarding the Circuit City $99.99 deal, so I did. All OM did for me is PM to $124.99 b/c I used a $25 coupon (they add the coupon to the price match). So I'm pretty dissapointed. I went ahead and cancelled my order today. I'm looking forward to a new Mystic deal that I can take advantage of...they just keep getting better anyway!

I will try pricematching at office max so that I also get the $40 rebate.
$70 - $40 = $30 net. May be a little less if OMax does 115% pricematch. This drive
is not on staples.com. :)
Check my post at the beginning of this thread for the price matching possibilities.

I had a horrible experience with OfficeMax b&m. The store manager told me that Cendyne 40x12x48 drives were on clearance, since they ended in .98 i.e. $79.98!! He told that he used to work at Staples. Anyway, I checked Staples circular and found many brand new items ending in .98[ which were introduced recently] I can take the MIR part that they will match with 79.98 + 40 [MIR] = $119.98 as this is posted on their web site. However, the manager's logic left me aghast. It was almost closing time, so I listened to the crap and walked away! Shall I try another store?

That a bunch of BS Staples just started carrying the Cendyne 40x12x48 drive, that's why it not on their web site yet. try another store or you can try it over the phone (1-800-283-7674 option 1) and give them the phone number of the Staples store where it's selling for $79.98.

Update #3 OfficeMax has three different ads that are running in diferrent cities at diferrent times, one of the ads has the Cendyne 40x12x48 for $59.99 after a $40 MIR, it's currently $129.99 on their web site, order it by phone (800-283-7674. option 1) and tell the CS Rep what city you saw the $59.99 ad in and you want to use a $25 off $100 OfficeMax coupon code. These more information at the beginning of this thread, and other deal updates.
