modsynergy.com

The arctic-cooling VGA Silencer is a big video card cooler that is designed to fit ATI Radeon graphics cards based on the PRO series. That would be the 9500 (Pro, AIW), 9700 (Pro, AIW) and 9800 (Pro, AIW) as of current. Nvidia cards that are supported are the lonely Nvidia GeForce 3 TI.

Time to empty my shopping cart. :(

Check for the specs of revision 2. I know it's compatible with more cards than the older revision is.

Undoubtedly the easiest replacement cooler you'll ever do. Easier than Zalman heatpipe or any CPU cooler install by far. As long as you told him to be gentle, a five year old could do this.

Easy. None.

I did, however, have a problem with the little fan-speed switch position. The card wouldn't seat because the collar on the switch was set too low on the backplate and it would impact against the case slot frame. I had to bend the case slot frame away from the card to make room for the collar.

I want to second that issue with the switch. I can't remember exactly what I did to make it work, but I had to do some metal-bending to make this work. Beyond that, easy as pie to install.

I was aware of the rest of the things on sale. None of them are very desireable nor as hot pricewise as the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer. This forum is for hot deals, not merely anything that's listed as on sale.

Too bad it doesn't work on Geforce 4 cards.

Man, I hate getting suckered in to these PC Mod sights. I always come away with more than just the hot item.

Well... I do have a new LanBay case to start preparing for after all... <--- rationalizing.

Thanks OP

Yes, metal-bending, exactly. I had to take a pair of blunt-nose pliers and bend the bottom lip of the slot frame on the case outward to be out of the way of the switch.

Even quieter than the Arctic! :)

Even at low speed the Arctic is inaudible with the case closed, etc. and it cools the CPU too because of exhausting the air.

So, does this not work on a 9600 Pro card??? It appears to work on 9500, 9700, 9800, but what about 9600? Thanks. ANd did someone say this would help CPU cooling as well?
