OK. Then what MB is the best bang for your (my) buck??

Is this the ASUS MB you all are referring to?

http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0371775

And if so, is this the least amount I would have to pay in order to get his rig underway and will stay pretty up to date???

This will be $50 more than the other combo with its less expensive MB. Is it worth it?

Thanks again you all!

Yep, that's the board. I think its worth it.

I've used this board in two builds now, zero issues. I think it offers excellent value for the price, particularly plenty of PWM fan headers if you are interested in building a PC that is quiet at idle and can spin up its fans appropriately under load conditions.

Whoops! Put in the same name here is the other optio.

There is another MB option - ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Z68 ATX Intel Motherboard

Your thoughts on this or whatever?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks OP. I chose this over IB with the Asus combo.

I also bought their $20 no questions asked CPU replacement two year program. Essentially this means I will get a $200 gift card to use on Haswell within two years.

Micro Center Replacement Protection Plan:
Designed for hardware under $500, these plans provide assurance that if your product fails during the manufacturer's warranty, simply bring it in and we'll take care of it.

Don't do it. They're giving you a good deal already.

maybe that's it, i tried with a gigabyte z68xp ud3

p8vz68 v lx works

The P8VZ68 doesnt have any USB3.0 headers to connect USB3.0 ports on the case front panel (if your case them) which was a deal breaker for this board for me :(

got an Asrock Z77 board instead...

Yeah, that's borderline criminal. They're give you the 2600k for over $100 less than Newegg. Don't screw them even harder.

Well the rep indirectly told me to use the plan for that. I would actually feel guilty though.

I am considering requesting a refund for the $20 because I would just do a warranty call from Intel within the next 3 years.

Was that you at FWS?

What motherboard did you get(model number)?

I just placed order AFTER FIVE+ HOURS of trying but do not have a confirmation yet...

Yeah that was me. I got an Z77 Pro 4. It was $135 plus tax. Newegg has it for $110 plus shipping though.

At the Marietta/Atlanta location they would only do the Asus. USB 3 isn't a deal breaker for me and it looks to have overwhelming positive reviews at all e-tailer websites.

Got mine!

To quote Shania Twain concerning the retail 3570k Ivy Bridge I tested,
"that don't impress me much..."
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?280318-i5-3570k-not-bad-but-a-little-disappointed...
And it just wasn't only me:
http://forums.aria.co.uk/showthread.php/100021-3rd-GEN-Intel-CPU-Semi-Stable-Testing-*Preview*-56K-WARNING

As a side note I had qualms about the Asus LX board too as the power vrm's weren't as good but ppl have been doing ok up to 4.8ghz.
The Gigabyte board is a better board though...
Passed on the $50 off a mobo as I just built a z68 Maximus IV Gene-Z...

I'm picking one of these up tomorrow, Thinking of bundling with the Gigabyte UD3H-B3 for $50 off. Only other bundling option is the Asus LX, which is a bit cheaper, but seems lighter on features? Any opinions on these two boards?

I just picked up the i-5 2500k with the Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 deal at MC on 4/3. The 2500K was $179.99. Should I return the 2500K while I still can?

Edit: I wonder if they would try and go back and charge me the full price for the mobo. Sounds like the $50 off combo deal is still going on though.
