How would this compare to a c2d e6300 for gaming? I realize one is a dual core and the other is a single core.

Its not working. I entered the promo code AMDROCKS in the promo field..hit apply and nothing happens.

Is it dead?

It works for me. Try logging into your Newegg account first and see if that works.

It works for me too.
But I must resist....
Single core may be thing of the past but this core with this price makes me rethink.

I bought an HP SR1910NX with a socket 939 Sempron from Compusa last month for $179. I just pulled the trigger on this. It should be a good "upgrade". THANKS!!!

Got one....Thanks OP 🙂

I like this better than the Frys deals with the low class mb.

Funny, I had an eye one exact chip on craigs list for $220..he came down to $175.

Nice upgrade from my 64 3200+. Especially after a bump with OC.

geez people. This (fx-55) chip is 1 of the best single core cpu's on the market (only the fx-57 beats it out). It beats all the regular AMD 64 single core cpu's hands down due to it's already high frequency, 1mb cache, unlocked multiplier, and being made from better materials like the Opteron. It beats all the Opteron single cores (w/ exception to the $650 Opteron 154), even the Opteron 152 (same clock) due to having the unlocked multiplier. And the price beats the Opteron 152 also.

I just picked up on of these for $38.99 shipped.

Winfast K8CERS Nforce4 Socket 939 PCI Express mATX Motherboard

Looks like I must've gotten the last one as it is out of stock now. I'll be putting my old 939 64 3000+ in this el cheapo motherboard to use as an HTPC.

Here is another thread a few weeks ago for the same motherboard for $31.99, but it was +$10 shipped for me.

FOXCONN Winfast NF4K8MC-ERS Motherboard - nForce4 Socket 939 mATX for $31.99

Probably not the greatest motherboard for the FX-55, but if you're upgrading and need somewhere to stick your old 939 chip, it might be just the ticket.

How does the FX-55 compare to the AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Venice 2.4GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor in price/performance?

🙂

It will still outpace the the 3800+ by a substantial margin.

It has twice the l2 cache and is clocked higher.

I bit, replacing a 3200 Venice E3. The unlocked multiplier pushed me over the edge. Keeps me from having to buy uber fast RAM.

Thanks OP!
