Make sure you take a good look at all of those little "extras" like the firewire and USB ports, etc. - you won't get any of them if you buy a newegg refurb! Seriously, I wonder what newegg does with all of those parts? They must have a huge bin full of them...

I bet that about half of the refub mobo's come with pretty much all of the little accessories like that but Newegg just doesn't guarantee it. I highly doubt the yank all the cables and stuff just so you don't get them, I bet they just don't bother to check and just ship it out as is as far as that stuff is concerned.

I ordered a A7V8X from newegg refurbs and did not get sh*t Including the I/O shield.

I emailed ASUS and they kindly sent me a accessories pack for the board free of charge.

Why not to buy from refurbish fom newegg - or other stores. but I'm focusing on newegg

First of all. only 30days warranty from newegg. I had a MB die and after 31 days, and i had to send to rma from the manuafacture.
Second: no guarantte of the included acessories. I've had about 80% luck so far.
Third: Refurbish MB's are usually MB that had problems like nforce2 mb dying after bios flash, and they fixed it somehow, but they problem might still remain.

Why to buy:

Price: if you get a working MB, with all the extras, then its a hot deal.
Price: we are not billionaires, so refurbs are sometimes good deal.

I'm still gonna buy from newegg refurb, only because i had great experience with them. But not always.

TCWO.com is also a good store i shop alot.

I've ordered 2 different refurb motherboards from newegg - 1 came in the original box with nothing else, the other was loose in a fedex box with nothing else. My favorite was the A7N266-C that newegg advertised as having onboard sound - good luck getting any of that sound out without the damn riser card! Luckily Asus has pretty good support and I was able to score 1 from them.
some people keep them :\
Would anyone with any common sense ever return something to an online retailer where you're desperately hoping they don't try to screw you, and NOT include all the crap that came in the box to increase your chances of actually seeing the refund on your credit card? I really think newegg strips the stuff off and you just get extremely lucky if you actually get anything besides the bare motherboard.

I don't think I would EVER buy a refurb motherboard... there is no such thing as "refurbishing" one... They are disposable... If they are broken, they throw them away and send out a new one...

These are motherboards that people installed, messed around with, and couldn't get working... Then, some asus authorized service center tests it as OK and resells it.

Plus, like everyone is saying, you don't get any of the extras, total rip off and ICE cold unless you are uber-poor...

I've had to send a mobo back to ASUS once and I was very impressed with how they handled it. Their normal turnaround time for when you get a mobo replacement is officially 2-3 weeks (I think) with them. However, when my mobo went down, it was critical that I get it back asap. I talked to the phone rep who let me talk to her supervisor, who then said, as soon as we receive your mobo, we'll 2-day your replacement to you. Sure enough, less than a week after I shipped the defective board out, I had a working one in my hands. Very impressive.

I've bought two refurbished motherboards from Newegg last month (both were Epox EP-8K7A). One had a dead LED on the on-board POST display, and the other had a broken heatsink clip and leaking capacitor. It ended up costing me money in the end (for return shipping). Both boards did come with all accessories.

I bought 6 MSI boards in the past few months, shipped board only. I believe all the boards are OEM from MSI. They seem to have a constant large supply of them every few days. Don't understand why no one has said anything about the K3 Ultra 2 for 39.00. They will take the new 333 XP chips, just adjust in the Bios. Seems like a good board for the price.

Cut and Paste from the picture link of this refurb board on neweggs site.

The pictures shown are from the NEW version of this item. If you purchase this refurbished product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE, meaning it is just the item itself. Accessory items are NOT INCLUDED with refurbished products. Accessories are shown in the pictures so that customers will know what is missing from the item.

i have recieved several asus refurb boards that were white box and just the board. you will not get accesories so don't even hope. most other boards i've gotten have some of the accesories...

dew.

Its simple. NewEgg refurbished items are customer returns, for whatever reason. So when you buy refurbished, you buy what somebody returned, in whatever shape they shipped it in.
If you buy a refurbished CPU, you might have thermal goo all over it, if that's what the previous owner did to it.
Refurbished items do NOT get serviced by anyone, NewEgg or the original manufacturer or distributor.

It's kinda nice to be able to pick up stuff cheap that way, as long as you set your expectations right.

Oh and if you feel like bitching about it, remember that you benefit when you want to return something to newegg that's not broken but you just don't like it. There are two sides to this.

I didn't know that. When I talked to the representatives on the phone they never offered, but I will inquire about it. THANKS!

back in stock with load of them (22).... and price is $111.

How do you find out how many are in stock? I wonder why they have so many? I thought this was supposed to be about the best Athlon motherboard you could get. Why so many returns?

Becareful not to pack the postal receipt in the return package. I did that once and they claimed that they never saw it.
