How did you do that... Outpost.com has the same price (before rebate) as staples.com, actually few pennies more! And, I don't think they PM after rebate (well, if you do that staples turns out to be less: $30+$30 double MIR as opposed to $50 MIR from outpost).

Can you clarify?

The reason is that Staples does pm to after rebate prices, and they only know have one rebate listed on their site. Therefore they are pricematching about $12 to $20 difference, depending upon if they are charging you for the overnight shipping option from outpost.

Great! Thanks a lot, I'll try and call their CSR soon and give it a shot.

If it is the same manager, I bet he won't take this too, but I will try. Frys has the same drive here in Cali that works out to be $57 after $50MIR, but if I can get the $20 off from my Staples purchase, that leaves me at about $47 AR and tax.

Well, I have to hand it to the manager. He remembered my from yesterday, and just told the checker to go ahead and give me the discount, even though it said couponcrazy all over the printout. He was hesitant at first because it didn't look like a Staples coupon, but I said that couponcrazy did a "Frame" to Staples, and it had Staples.com printed on the top of the page luckilly! So, even though those that are getting a PM to Outpost are getting a better deal, I already have my drive from Staples B&M and it will be $36.91 AR and taxes. Not bad for a 3 year warranty drive!

No PM to Outpost for me. The BM Staples said they don't PM to web sites. Oh well . . . they did have a 50% off clearance items sale!

Am I missing something? Aren't both rebates sent to the same place?

Staples stores wouldn't PM after rebate prices or PM internet stores, so if you bought it in the store no PM for you.

I figured there was no way they would give this to me. Everytime I try to do a pricematch with Staples, IF the pricematch brings the pre-coupon total lower than needed to meet the coupon minimum, ie $20 off $100, they tell me it's either the pricematch or the coupon but not both. But.........

I originally paid $109.94 - $20 coupon + $6.60 tax = $96.54. I just called for the pricematch to outpost and he says my credit to my cc will be $23.32. I do not know how he arrived at that figure, but I did not argue, just said "Thank you very much for your help".

$96.54 - $23.32 pm = $73.22. If both rebates work, which it seems they will, $13.22 after taxes!
I almost didn't call because I thought it was too good to be true. I trusted the Nagus.
:D

I read on mr. fat's site that the $20 off $100 coupon has been given out to people for taking surveys, its none of the managers business how you got it, if its valid coupon he should accept it. Also the coupon should not be included in the PM, as a coupon is a coupon and is not designed to be part of the advertised price.
With my previous experience with Staples I had no problems PM after a coupon use.

Can someone link me to the outpost drive please? I had no luck trying finding it on their website (One sign they're owned by Fry's=).

Also if you live near a Fry's store and you bought thr drive on line you can PM the Fry's store where it's on sale for $48.99, $11 less than Outpost.com and on shipping charges.

LOL, I called Staples to PM.

Me: "Yeah, I'd like to see if I can get a pricematch on a purchase I made two days ago."
CSR: "Sure, what's the order number?"
I give it to him.
CSR: "And you're going to match the 80 GB drive?"
Me: "Yes, that's right."
CSR: "To Outpost?"
Me (innocently): "Oh, that's been done already?"
CSR: *laugh* "I've only done it 8 or so times today. Hold on."

A minute later I have $13~something coming back to me. About $22 after rebates. This makes me feel better since I missed out on the 120 GB for $40'ish earlier, and 80 GB deals are more common so I can get RAID going more easily. Thanks for the heads up!

Hahah. Mine went almost exactly like that. She did ask where I wanted to pricematch to though. She said she had done it more times than she could keep track of. I only got $13.99 back, but that's not bad at all. $22.55 for this drive....I am quite pleased with my first hot deal attempt and score. Thanks all!

And don't give up on the PM. I saw at FW that some people were getting told that it could not be done, but I just called (after they said it) and got the price matched.

When at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

just got back from staples B&M, not so lucky as they wont PM fry's AR price, so i only got $12.XX back, used the coupon and it came out to $87 with tax. $27 after the rebates is not too shabby at all.

Yeah - deal is soured for SF Bay Area folks - they won't PM after Fry's Rebate price. So I would say that the best deal is to go to Fry's and get the deal for $98-$50 rebate. Only 1 rebate to deal w/ - more chances of success. (BTW - this is only if you don't have the B&M coupon to hand them - which most of us don't)

I called Staples and also got the $13 Outpost PM refund. The CSR was really nice--poor woman said she had to service many of us today with this request AND also turn down many people who wanted to buy the drive because it was OOS.

We should each PayPal $1 to Mysticman!

Boy!

What a pain in the ass PM.

The first CSR said they wouldn't PM to Outpost because it was an aniversary sale.
The second CSR said I couldn't use my coupon and PM so it was cheaper the way I already had it.
The third CSR said "No problem sir." and credited me $13.99.

Keep trying!!!

I gotta say, this forum rules.

Just called (at 9:45 CST) Staples, got a CSR who also immediately knew what the deal was, no questions asked. :) She said she came in at 7 and all of her calls except one have been for the price match (ROFL). She said they were PMing it to $97.99 'cuz Outpost had a $50 MIR and Staples "only" had a $30 MIR.

Hmmn...so, $97.99 - $20 - $30 - $30 = $17.99 plus about $6 tax.

Who says the economy stinks? Laff...

I love this forum. I just read this post at 1:00am on 5-17 and was thinking I probably missed out on the Outpost PM because it wasn't 5-16 anymore. Well Oupost still had it on they're site for 59.99 so I immediately called Staples. I got them to PM it to 97.99 and am getting 14.36 back after taxes. That makes a great deal an awesome deal, thanks.
