I just did this deal. First, I prepared to order online, using the 20 off 75 coupon. That took it to about $70. Then I took the printout to a local OD, which had one left in stock. Showed the cashier the printout, and she was able to give me it at that price. The $25 and the $15 rebates printed out with the receipt. (they both ask for the original UPC, sux).

In the box was a CyberDrive 16x12x40, model CW038D, mfgd 1/2002. Has buffer underrun technology. Burner software was CD-Maker2000, which I've never heard of.

I think I'll try the $40 rebate. New Rochelle has the $15 version, and I'd be sure to have to send them the original upc to get them to honor it, but then I risk not getting the $40 rebate (or at least the $25 variant; both the $40 and the $25 rebates are identical except for the amount of the rebate). If this ends up being $45, after rebates, then it's a sorry deal. If I get lucky and get $55 in rebates, then a $15 burner is mine to keep. Should be 2003 before I know.

There's something screwy with their on-line inventory status. It keep telling me that it was OOS, so I entered a zip from the LA area - same thing. Then I went to my OD and guess what? Yep, a few sitting there behind glass.

What we need to do is find another source that sells less than $69.00 then PM it to the lower price. That would sweeten the deal. Anyone?

optical, fry's had this drive for $67 in its socal advertisement sunday, so $89-$20(coupon)-$40(rebate)-$22(pm)would bring this down to about $7 + tax, however you might have a problem when after the pm you initial purchase is only $67 not $75 required by the coupon

got this email and clear up the issue
Dear XXX,

Thank you for your email to OfficeDepot.com.

Please forgive us as there are two rebates, one for the $25 and the other
for the $15., which together total the $40. Please be assured that the UPC
and receipt to the Office Depot will be fine as a copy, as long as the
originals are sent to the Pacific Digital mail address.

Thank you for your inquiry.

Should you find we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to
contact us.

Sincerely,

Ray Jones
Customer Relations Assistant II
Office Depot, Inc.

So upc and receipt sent to OD will be fine (the $25).

Am I missing something here? Why isn't the original $40 Rebate valid? Is it just because the redemption center is very unreliable?

I placed an order last night, but if it requires two rebates, I may cancel before it arrives.

taserT - it's not a coupon code, it's a click-through link that was provided in an email that went out from Onvia.com. You'll see a confirmation that the coupon was accepted - BTW, it's 20 off of 75, not 25. I can PM you the URL, if you'd like.

thanks...i finally got the info that it's a link and not a coupon code. I too am wondering why the single $40 rebate shouldn't be used....but instead use the 25 AND 15. The $40 one looks good to me too.

here is a link that may help you find code. I think its by one of AT member. hopefully still is. :)

<< why you guys dont use $40 rebate from OD and another $15 from OP if OD accept upc copy for $25rebate? >>

The org. sale in the their Sunday Ads (still is, you can check, and better save one in case there are rebate problem). Saying 40 rebate. But doesn't say its a 25 + 15 or one 40. So at the time I order (sunday morning) and print out the rebate form (which only has one then), its a single $40 rebate and i think the link in the first page is still valid (you can still find it).
However, funny thing is that afternoon or somewhere in between, there is a $15 come up which should be a manufactor rebate to NY (www.wheresmyrebate.com, rebate center also handle CompUSA rebate. i can only say slow and sometimes has "error", but i yet has a missed one.). And then the link said $40 (picture also) actually display a $25 rebate.

I have send email to CSR of OD and got the result as post before.

And it seems to meet the result of other ppl that do a web order and store pick up. They have printed 2 rebates recipt.
So the safe bet is $25 and $15 will go thro. But what about $40 and $15? Is this combination will go thro?
I don't know. Its not likely that ExpressGroup (Walled Lake, MI office depot rebate center, one of the slowest also. yet all my rebates has come.) will communicate with TCArebates (New Rochelle, NY) and see if u send it both or not.
My guess is if you send in $40, they paid you $25? or the worst case total rejected it. (if you send in $25 and %40, they may rejected you because you use the same receipt).

So you can take your chance to send in $40 and $15 out of the mistake. But i wish you luck. I will play by the rule for safe.

It may be eaily to find other store (i heard some staples ) that has a clearance price and PM to officedepot or if use AMEX BLUE, you still have 2 weeks to find a lower price at web.

:D Thanks Isman
I picked up the deal in Seattle and the drive inside is marked LITE-ON IT CORP. CD-RW DRIVE MODLE LTR-16102B

 What is special about the LITE-ON ? Is there a FAQ or some other info ?
Other than being faster should it be better than my iomega ZIP CD 12x10x32 ( can be flashed to a PLEXOR)

Nice idea but it won't work. If you are going to use that $20 coupon then your final price is $69 + tax. If you were to PM that then you are getting the difference of $2 (69-67). PM is being done at the final price before tax + shipping.

There's got to be a better way...

actually if you purchased it already (for $89 and used the $20 off $75) you might be able to getaway with getting your price adjusted without them deleting your coupon...

Um, actually it does work. Just use the $15 0ff $50 coupon. I did it B&M, so I could check serials, and they PM'ed to $67 then took $15 off and w/ tax it was $57.
I got a Lite-on for $17 AR.

What I meant was PMing using AMEX on last message. So, is that mean OD does do pricematches? I don't have the ad for Fry's so it would be hard for me to go in and do a PM at OD - assuming they do do PMs. Calling Frys for a price check is obvisouly a joke.

I got one at the B&M using a print out of the web site, showing $69 after coupon. They had a Cyberdrive box unopened, and another open box that had a returned Liteon in it. I figured what the heck I'll give the Liteon 16102b a spin. There are reports of being able to do SD2 with the 0S0F firmware. BTW, the box with the Liteon in it said serial # 232134009xxx. I will see what firmware I got, and if it is flashable if I need to. Thanks Isman.
