from now thru April 20,
office depot has this cdrw for 89.99 - 40MIR = 49.99, find a 20 off 75 coupon and you can have it for 29.99.
order by #928731
come handy for low cost computer. :)

[edit] get email from OD CSR, saying there should be 2 rebates, 15 to PDC at NY and 25 to OD at MI. Seems to match ppl pick up instore. So i will not risk sending the 40 MIR. Both ask for org. upc but the CSR said copy to OD will be fined as long as the org go to PDC. I will keep the email as insurance.

Cool deal, but...

1) I don't see the 16x on their web site
2) When you click on the rebate in the rebate section it says "To receive your $25..."

I'm sure there are other manufacturers for the reboxing drives companies(hope its not a MTK or Ben-Q..:disgust: ) anyway.,..its an instore special as far as I was able to see...chek OD weekly instore specials

Several of the items on sale in today's circular (including this drive) don't seem to be available online. The items don't say anything about being available B&M only but the first page of the ad does say at the bottom "Some products and offers may be available in store only."

edit: the items that don't come up with a search by SKU do come up (if they are available in your area) if you choose order by item #.

The rebate page for the drive shows and describes a $40 rebate form and a $15 mfr form, but when you click on the $40 form it becomes a $25 one. :(

Ok, thanks!

Found everything, but it says it's out of stock! Think I'll call my OD and see if they have it.

You can use a copy of the reciept for the $40 rebate.

But you need the original UPC.

Now if you can find two UPC's on the box. You may be able to use the $15 rebate from Pacific Digital. Looks like both rebates are seperate. Different addresses.

The $15 rebate from Pacific Digital requires Orginal Reciept and orginal UPC.

If only one UPC, than it most likely will not work for both.

Does any one know if it only has one UPC?

Pacific Digital $15 rebate

The $40 rebate as linked by NonResidentAlien says "may not be used in conjunction with any other offer from the manufacturer.'

And the Pacific Digital rebate says can't be combined with any other offers or promotions. Doesn't look good for both. Probably only one UPC anyways.

The last PDC 16x10x40 CDRW I bought was at Staples on Black Friday and was a CyberDrive 16x12x40.

Interesting discrepancies on the rebates. We have a $25 and $40 rebate going to Walled Lake (their rebates suck big time) and a $15 rebate going to TCArebates in New Rochelle, NY (they have been sucking lately too). I also think PDC had some rebate payment problems. I only received my $50 rebate from them a few weeks ago from Black Friday. The Staples rebate center (Parago/RebatesHQ) kept telling me that PDC had not released the funds to them so that they could print my rebate check.

I am interested in this deal but I'm afraid I would have to endure too much rebate BS and have to wait 4 or 5 months to get the rebates back.

EDIT: If you get in on this deal be sure to watch your rebate dates. The $25 and $40 rebates must be postmarked by 4/27. The $15 rebate must be postmarked within 10 days of purchase. Isn't that a bunch of crap, you have 10 days to mail your rebate and you will have to wait 10 weeks to receive it (if you're lucky). Bunch of weasels.

Well, I ordered thru the website for local store pickup, pay-by-check. I wanted to examine the box before purchase. I browsed their stock and saw nothing that looked like a Lite-On. The box said "Buffer underrun technology", but no brand name like "Just burn" or "Safe burn" like the Lite-On or Mitsumi boxes have. The s/n's of all of them started with "EACxxx...". So, I decided to pass on the deal. If anyone has better info on these drives, please post here.

OD is lame. The website doesn't even have the drive so I can't even order it. I called my local OD to find out if they take online coupon codes and said there is no way for their register to take codes. After BS, I still have to deal with the damn rebate. No worth the hassle.
Obviously, their website and store inventory don't even match.

as i wrote on the first post, you have to order by #.
Office depot has been wanting to move their tech stuff to techdepot.com. So you can not find that from a "usual" way.

Yeah, office depot rebate has always slow, (average over 3 months) slow as Office max (the best are still staples and Best Buy to Mesa location). Has to call most of the time because they are overdue. But at least it come.

You will NOT get a Lite-on. Be prepare. I am going to put it on a low cost computer (below $400) for a friend. It will be better than a CD-ROM drive for the same money.
