Yes sir I am gonna try it. I would love to be a up and coming villain that is guided by The Joker.

With that said I don't expect this game to last much longer. Once TOR and GW 2 comes out say goodbye to this game.

Cool. I do want to try this, but I'll probably quit shortly after starting just like I do with all MMOs.

I'm a paying customer still on the PS3. I guess I'll be Legendary. Hopefully they'll be able to ride this game for as long as they did Galaxies. I might pick up the PC version now for free though. City of Heroes is so boring now (I've got like ... 11 lvl 50s).

I do want to try this out at some point. Hopefully I'll have time and remember to download this.

I bought the game on release. Played it hard for a few months (steam says 415 hours) then got tired of the lack of content and failed promises. Of course, if I had stuck to just one toon, I would of played far less, maybe 70 hours tops.

Still, it was a very fun game for a bit. The made it so you go from 1-max level extremely quickly. If I remember right, it was a couple days of good play to max about a toon.

Problem is the end game wasn't really needed or there.

But, I got a couple hundred hours of play out of it. Maxed all my guys and got a lot of the collections.

Some time has passed, so I might give it a spin.

One positive of this game is you don't need to play for hours on end. Unless something changed, you could log into your max toon for 1-2 hours a day and run through all the dailies and stuff.

City of Heroes is F2P too, and I gather (without having played either) that it's considered to be better. It has traditional MMO-RPG combat instead of the brawler combat of DCUO.

Monster ArsTechnica thread on CoH/V:
http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=35261

But as several of us said when the trailer came out, what I'd really like to see is a full-length CG movie about the apocalypse shown in the trailer, with a second half about Luthor changing history to undo it.

The combat in DCUO is one reason why I wanna try it. It's something different instead of the same stale combat system used in most MMOs today.

Something different does not always equal good.

I thought their system was designed for a PS3 controller and poorly ported. Huge turnoff for me. Though that doesn't mean you won't like it, especially if that's a style you already like.

Agreed. The "click and watch" type combat of most MMOs is a major reason I don't try them. I prefer closer to real time combat like this is supposed to offer.

Yes I know something different does not always mean it will be good. Which is why I never purchased this game to begin with. But now since it's f2p I see no reason as to why I shouldn't give it a try. If the combat system is better then I will hope that future MMOs will pick up on this idea.

Looks like they are having all sorts of issues handling the new traffic and stuff. Nothing new though. Sony's execution and support of this title was crap from day one.

Eventually, it will get better. Not because they actually fixed something, but because enough people left to lower the load.

I would like to play a little again, but only if they let paying customers go to their own server.

Hehe, I'm totally with you right there. HoN is pretty meh right now, and no dota2 invites. DCUO seems to have some major server problems which will hopefully get working sooner rather than later because it is pretty fun, but if they can't fix it, Arkham City will be here shortly.

I like the combat so far, I'm using an xbox controller btw, but the camera going all out of whack at times is a pain in the arse.

It would be nice if we could play. Also I'm really pissed that during my 2nd character creation process I got kicked. By luck I had a character looking really good. Nothing completely out there or weird looking something that made sense. Went to put in a name for the toon and I was kicked before hitting the submit button.

All of the content is incredibly easy. They wanted to focus more on the experience and story rather than testing people's playing skills.

The hardest part of the game is really whenever you do anything the first time (not knowing what to expect). After that, it's fairly laid back. I liked it. No need for add-ons and the "leet" kiddies.

Downside is Sony was never willing to improve the game unless the improvement was good and worked for both the PC and console. As you can imagine, this meant the game would always be missing many things and serious upgrade potential.

Well this is a giant cluster so far...

...were they not prepared for all us cheap bastards to start playing?
