I sent an e-mail to Indigita.com, which makes the firewire card. The one included with the DV editor SE is non-bus powered (its part number is 481 as opposed to model 480), which is bus powered. This is a link to the 480 card,
here. The support person sent me an e-mail saying that most devices, (CDRW, HD, etc), have their own power source so this card would also work for other firewire devices. He told me the need for bus power would be for a portable hard drive, or something else that needed the power source at the card. I guess for 20.00, its a good deal for the card and the editing software.
The SKU # is 652-691
Piblokto: Which USB device is marked to 19.88? There are 3 or 4 USB editors that Dazzle makes. They make a cheap one that only works with Windows ME, and one that has higher resolution that costs 200-250, (my boss owns one), plus a couple in between. The USB devices, if I am correct will transfer video from an analog camcorder, The DV editor (SE, the 2 port model and the regular model with 3-ports) are for Digital camcorders.
The difference between the DV SE model with 2 firewire posts and the gerular version with 3 ports is the SE uses MPG-1 only and the more expensive 3 port model is for MPG 1 and 2.
