Still not getting the explanation considering on other tracks, cars go 200mph. Can't imagine that 200mph vs 210mph is that different.

The real question regarding restrictor plates should be left up to the spectator. After all, they are visiting an event with risks.

I'm not sure, perhaps it's the close proximity of the grandstands at Daytona or simply that technology improves and if 210 was possible in 1987 where would we be today?. Fans have almost universally voiced the opinion " I don't give a fuck" about possible dangerous conditions but we both know they would be scurrying off to a lawyer if they were injured. Last year the fence was compromised and car parts including a wheel, engine and various suspension components injured 33 fans in a 125 qualifying race the day before the 500.

I've never been able to get into racing. It's like soccer. I've tried several times, but outside of football and playoff basketball, I guess I'm not really into spectator sports.

I've got some friends who I'm sure are going nuts over it though.

Shut down for now, rain. Time for the jet-dryer trucks to spring into action, lets hope the rain manages to stay to the north.

EDIT..now we have a tornado warning for an area about 25-30 miles from the track, crazy winter weather this year, I made $60 mowing my neighbor's yard yesterday, so much rain this winter combined with mild temps means grass growing fairly well, IN FEBRUARY!..

Hope he had a big umbrella, a huge storm just rolled through, rain stopped for now and they are drying the track, of course that could wind up being a futile effort if more rain comes along. This time of year cold fronts try and push colder air through to FL, it's not uncommon for them to "stall" over the state and where they mingle with humid air from the southern gulf, pop-up storms erupt, actually we've had 2 tornado warnings today, although FL tornado's are usually of the F1 variety, nothing remotely close to what those who live in "tornado alley" face every spring..

So, did this race restore order in the southern redneck way of life? Did it live up to the hype? I have no idea what happened as I didn't watch a single second of it.

Race was rain-delayed, restarted@ 8:30, on lap 92/200 so far. I'm very disappointed Jules, very disappointed indeed but to each his own I guess.. 😕

Austin Dillon wins my douchebag of the race award. He caused two wrecks so far...

Yea, he's a rookie and it's showing, interesting item now is the Dale Jr's car has that debris stuck to the grill, will it cause an overheat situation?, only 2 laps on the restart so here we go!

Sometimes I just want to jump through my TV and kill these reporters. So you finished 2nd are you disappointed? Well I really wanted to win, NO FUCKING SHIT, WHO RACES TO COME IN 2ND. Oh yeah, did I mention how hard the team worked?

Ozzie V8 Supercars was on in the weekend, if you like touring car style racing, these races have heaps more action..............heaps!
