This game has been getting a lot of love on Youtube lately. Stoked to see it. A lot of fans are upsetty spaghetti there is no sequel planned after the way the game ended. Who knows, maybe the cult following will convince them to green light the sequel. Back off on the expensive advertising (the first game they blitzed hard, which was expensive and created way too much hype) reuse any assets possible, and release it multiplatform day one.

Dude mentions why games are crap these days and how possibly Days Gone went unappreciated thanks to gamers paying for unoptimized "AAA" crapware: https://www.overclock.net/posts/29413790/
Someone posted that video in the DaysGone reddit the other day. There is a rumor it is getting the remaster treatment. It really does not need it. An improved textures pack would be welcomed though. And allowing us to skip the unskippable in game cutscenes after the first playthrough. There is a mod community for the game, even Daryl Dixon so you can finish that Walking Dead vibe.

Many factors hurt the game's initial sales and critical reception. There was the hype surrounding it and the big advertising budget. Zombie game fatigue. Critics playing only a couple of hours of the game and rating it poorly. However, I think it has gone on to be the number 2 best selling Sony port on PC.

The game opens up as you gain abilities, superior weapons, and crafting skills. And I don't think anyone's opinion is worth noting, until after they fight their first horde. N00bs come to the sub all the time looking for help because they are unable to beat them the first playthrough. I have played to the point that I mess around with glitches and "Hey! you can get up there if you follow the exact right line." tactics. The replay value is excellent thanks to it.

Maybe that's why a remaster makes financial sense to them. If they get even half of the fans to bite, that's an almost easy 10 million copies sold on the PC, plus it would be something of a showcase for PS5 Pro too.

It might be getting remastered just so the PSN network login is an easier pill to swallow (similar to Horizon Zero Dawn, og game wasn't crying for better visuals).

I mean I doubt Sony would do it for that alone, but also because the game has gained a significant cult following.

Just drop to $10 or less Days Gone and you'll be mine.

Are they still doing that?

-Yep, but theyve committed to only adding the PSN requirement to future releases, not updating existing games to require it (and potentially cutting off the ability to play games already purchased in countries PSN isn't available in).

Those PSN numbers aren't going to embiggens themselves on only PS5 purchases ya know! What'll Yoshida-san tell the stock holders then!

So Helldivers 2 taught them nothing... Getting rid of the PSN login is largely responsible for the resurgence of the game.

These rich dirtbag clowns need to face real life emergencies. They will force us to downgrade to retro gaming if they continue throwing their disposable money away.

Sony exec said PC ports are a money printer. It'll be printing $10 bills. I hate to admit it, but I'll pony up just to support the game because it is in my top 25 all time list.

I have a guilty admission to make too. After spending more than a month enjoying Forza Horizon 3 for hours every day, I bought its expensive toy cars DLC (probably $40 or so) from the Xbox store because I thought the game developers had earned it for me to pay for it and the DLC could only mean more fun, right?

Well, it was a waste of money. I played it for an hour max maybe. Got so turned off by my "miscalculated" loss of money that stopped playing Forza Horizon 3 altogether. And then decided to not care about Forza Horizon 4 and 5 (only tried the 4's demo and it was fine but the joy inside had been killed already).

Calling all @balloonshark you seem to have a solid pulse on key resellers/sales etc.

If you're aware of a good sale on the non-remaster version of Days Gone on a trusted reseller site please let us know here.

I'd personally like to snag a copy before the OG version gets delisted everywhere and "remaster" with the PSN requirement becomes the norm everywhere.

I usually look up pricing at isthereanydeal. I don't see any deals right now. https://isthereanydeal.com/game/days-gone/info/

On slickdeals I see it was on sale several times last year for around $9 or $10 but nothing currently. I'll set a deal alert.

I have used Kinguin before and had no issues. There is a top rated seller there stating it activates in the U.S. for $17.72

https://www.kinguin.net/category/19...ncy=USD&gQT=2&gs=true&noff=1&nosalesbooster=1

But yeah, it was dirt cheap before the increased hype around the remaster.

I don't know where the info about the PSN account is coming from but I have not needed it for any of the ports on Steam. Also, this remaster will be offered as DLC to the base game so no way should you need PSN to play it.

They need to be more transparent, especially on a site like GoG.com about which features actually need an internet connection.

Like I wrote, I bought the key for Steam not GOG. You know, the place that recently made it quite explicit that you don't own the games you buy. ;)

Nice find!

Edit: Disregard. The link I posted and removed was for an account and not a game.
This "recommended" seller has a steam key for $12.41. <link removed>

Appreciate the find but the warning on top of the page is gonna be a no for me dawg:

This is not a product key. A NEW ACCOUNT will be created for you, and the purchased content will be available there. Log in to that account using the details provided in your Inventory. Applying any changes to the purchased account, such as adding a payment method or changing the region, may result in the account being banned. In such cases, no refund is applicable

Oops! My bad. I got bit by the account thing in Dec. from a different website G2A. I was trying to buy my nephew 6 months of game pass ultimate but got 2x 3 months of the pre-created accounts instead which are worthless to both of us. I thought those accounts only applied to memberships and not games. I guess I need to quit shopping at these types of sites.
