4 gallons? more than I make in my crock pot which is like 1.75 gallons. I probably use 4 whole diced up finely jalapenos and one habanero. everything goes in seeds and all.

also, it's not that i don't think beans thicken up the dish i'm saying they aren't the thickener that's what flour/maize are for.

Beans do thicken soups/stews. Depending on what you use, the starch content will vary, but pintos and the like will give out a lot of their starch. It might not be enough to thicken to where you like it, but that's what time, reduction, and/or the slurry are for.

oh of course i'm not saying that it doesn't, but one doesn't rely solely on beans to thicken their chili beans. i find going high on my crockpot for the first hour or two, then low for 8-10, move to the fridge over night, then low for another two hours, then set to warm and good to go. To many people rush to serve and it leave it far to watery.

omfg... ATOT would be a way better place if people didn't argue about whether fucking beans belonged in chili or not.

Anyway, I made beer chili this past weekend, was delicious. I need to write down the recipe while it's still fresh in my head since I used another recipe as a base template and winged it from there.

This weekend, I'll make my white chicken chili with beans and hominy. Mmmmm.
